View Full Version : Steve Kerr is one lucky mofo

There has always been doubts as to whether this or that coach were really responsible for their team winning. Fact of the matter is, Steve Kerr did not have talent in mind when he chose the Warriors over the Knicks...he just got lucky that he was worried about the Knicks' owner, Dolan. If for some reason he overlooked it he would have been exposed for the fraud of a coach that he is.

And now our recent history has confirmed many of our suspicions. In Kerr's absence, a loser of a coach and player, Luke Walton (whose father was the most annoying broadcaster in NBA history, and who likely takes after his dad), is standing on the sidelines without even attempting to look good, because the warriors do it for him. If Walton is being spoon-fed this great image, just imagine the image that would have been bestowed upon Kerr had he not had back surgery? And he's getting paid more than any coach has in NBA history...for something he neither created nor developed. One could almost say that the Warriors recent success has proven that Mark Jackson had more to do with the success of this team than either Kerr or Walton and he ain't getting paid shit for it

Good thing they gave him a broadcasting job.

Haters gonna hate
This thread wasn't just about hating. It was also stating an argument that Steve Kerr, having not coached a single game this season, would have gotten GOAT level credit for how his team started out. And it all would have been fraudulent.

They say that at the NBA level, the real coaching comes between games. Luke is doing a great job, but he is doing a great job executing Kerr's game plan, and Kerr has shown up at practices. Let's not pretend he isn't a factor in this win streak.

Jackson deserves credit for establishing a toughness and defense-first mentality. Kerr deserves credit for establishing an offensive system and bringing in the right people/coaches. Sometimes less is more, and if Kerr had behaved more controlling, like a veteran coach, he might have actually held this team back. Walton is doing exactly what Kerr would be doing; establish a consistent rotation, so players know what to expect, and get out of the way.

Marc Jackson stays being Kerr's bitch. Kerr won rings with the Bulls. Beating the Pacers when Mark Jackson was playing. Kerr was a better play by play announcer. And then he turned the Warriors into the best team ever.

Mark Jackson wants to murder Steve Kerr every time he sees that little freckled faced ginger.

....uh, so if less is more then why is he getting paid $5M/year? By that logic my grandma could be the coach as long as she knew some basketball fundamentals and rules.

One can argue just the opposite: How the hell could Mark Jackson not win with this team?

I don't think Kerr is that lucky. He's currently dealing with some serious back issues. Hope he gets better soon

Kerr and Phil Jackson are some of the luckiest bastards ever. Spoelstra too (he's guaranteed a HC job for like the next 20 years just because of lebrons collusion and winning two championships.)

Kerr is a good coach and has made some very good decisions regarding the Warriors. I'm not sure if Greg Popovich is coaching the Warriors they would be more successful.

That's basically all you can ask from your coach.

Kerr is lucky. He's a 6 ppg scorer, who averaged 17.8 mpg, and still played 16 years in the NBA. From 18 to 37 years old, all but 1 1/2 years of his career (half a season after traded to Orlando), his coach was either Olsen, Fitzsimmons, Wilkens, Phil or Pop. All those guys are either in the HOF or probably deserve to be.

He's played on several all-time great teams, has been teammates with two GOATs of their position, and all of this resulted in 5 rings. Even has his moment in the sun as a professional player. Two, actually.

Steve still coaching. He talks to Luke Walton everyday. He installs new plays. The most recent are some they set up for Draymond. Luke is doing his thing in game. Still credit to the players for staying focused on what matters. Warriors success is because all are on the same page.

It's a player's league. Always has been and always will be. It's how a coach like Spoelstra or Scott Brooks or Avery Johnson can get to the Finals... have a great team.
