What a horrible way to go. Even I feel sorry for him, and I normally celebrate the deaths of intruders killed by homeowners protecting their property. :(

You would think the robber should have survived if the homeowner tossed a quick bucket of water over fire the second he heard the screams. Maybe he let the guy "cook" a little before putting out the fire and calling the cops.

It's more likely that he died from smoke inhalation than being burned to death.

Agree.

Burglary is up there. I understand assault in a fight or whatever, it could happen to anyone. But burglary is a thought out plan to steal shit that's not yours because you think you deserve it.

Should have stoked the fire.

yeah, and afterwards the homeowner and his family are scared...will the burglar come back, in the middle of the night......you lie awake in fear........forget the stolen stuff, burglars destroy lives

i would think so.

anyone who's been around a campfire knows what it's like to take even one good face-full of smoke from a roaring fire. imagine being stuck in a chute having to take it nonstop. the guy was probably gone in a couple minutes.

His body was probably blocking most of the smoke from getting up to him.

I'm betting his lower half roasted for a bit.

obviously it depends upon on how far down he was, but most human bodies are oval shaped and most chimneys are rectangular / square shaped, so he probably got a lot of smoke no matter what.

btw, looks like this poor dumb kid's name was cody caldwell. he was only 19yo.
