Nexus 6p, 64 gb with Nexus Protect = $638
iPhone 6s, 64 gb with Apple Care = $749
Galaxy S6 Edge with Total Protect = $783
Almost all my close friends/fam are on iPhones (so good for group texts i guess is the only positive i can think of and Facetime). I'm used to Android though...which of these options + Verizon does ISH think is the best?
All personal preference. I love the simplicity of the iPhone. My 5S is the best phone I've used and I've had three S4s. Facetime is really underrated and I'm sure that they'll be working on optimizing it later. Hopefully adding group facetime.

Just bought a 6s. Already bored to death with it. I like the OS tho. Simple and feels so premium to hold.

The iPhone's ecosystem is the best, but it'a also more secure, you get updates as soon as they come out and superior customer service.
The average user doesn't care about 'customization' or specs. They care about performance, reliability and ease of use.
I've met very few people that cared about specs and customization, and those same people ALWAYS upgraded to the latest and newest Android phone as soon as it came out, I guess their current phone wasn't performing as well anymore.

It depends on what you need.
If you want customization and a more feature packed phone: Android
If you want reliability, great ecosystem, consistency, and friends and family compatibility: iPhone.

These companies with their app stores make switching a waste of money to an extent. I've had iphone and now Android, but I have several purchased Android apps that will need to be repurchased if I switch back.
I had a 5s for work and it was boring. Also, I hate itunes so much, what a pain in the ass that is.

Yeah I've seen a lot of switches back and forth between Android and iPhone users. Off the top of my head I know 3 people who switched to android years ago, and one person that tried android and hated it. I think the OS of most of the recent phones are good enough that it really is all about personal preference. I've had an android since 2010 and an iPhone since 2013. There's no wrong answer anymore. There are things my iPhone 5S does really well and others that my Note 4 is great at. Just depends on what you need.
Personally, if I ditched my iPhone completely, I wouldn't miss it too much, but I can't imagine ditching android altogether.

Lol. Regardless of how you put it android is playing catch up with Apple. Their specs are fully blown out of this world but can't compete with true software. Specs vs software.

Recently got an iPhone for the first time. Pretty much indistinguishable quality from my old Note 3 with the way I use it. The finger print ID is way more convenient than I imagined. I do miss the ability to have customizable widgets tho.

I believe there's widgets too now on iPhone. Use the app called "Launcher" it's a red rocket. Really nice feature on your notifications bar, I prefer it better than the standard widget on the app page.

i had a 6. it was a bit too big.
the 6p is slightly smaller, faster of course, MUCH better camera, fingerprint scanner that's quicker than the apple's 6s, and great build quality.

Why did the next gen go smaller? Was it common opinion that 6 inches is too big? lol
I just bought a wireless charger for it, I imagine I will love it. And I never really transfer much from my computer to my phone except the first few times when I want to move music over, so that's not a real selling point for me.
I've heard the battery becomes shit after a while. And with a non-removable, it's a total negative. Also, I only got a 32gb one. I have about 48gb used on my Note 3 64gb micro sd... I guess I will start deleting old junk.

Well, the BIGGEST turn off for me about Apple products is how plugged into their ecosystem you need to be + I hear that phone slow down (studies been done) when a new one is released/the OS is updated.
If I'm buying something I want it to last 3 years. I feel like for the money spent that's a fair amount of time for the phone to still be legit.
The upgraded hardware specs make a difference in that regard (if i don't plan to upgrade to the newest iphone everytime one comes out).

Yeah I was amazed at how well the fingerprint scanner works. Samsung's is down right retarded in comparison. 6P looks like it has a scanner that makes sense.
How do you like the notification bar? I thought they really mailed it in there. The new Android notification bar basically eliminates having to open a lot of apps altogether.

Android phones don't hold their value because there is a constant supply of them from many different manufacturers. They are constantly being upgraded and innovated. This will drive prices down. Lower prices is a GOOD thing for consumers.

no kidding.
i buy 2-3 phones a year. i'd rather pay a $500 for a nexus 6p instead of $750 for an iphone straight up any day. I'd rather save the money initially instead of pray and hope i get more money back on my iphone resale. don't forget shit happens like dropping the phone and destroying it one way of the other so there goes resale value
another option are these new early upgrade programs so "resale value" is just another outdated bullet point apple fans desperately cling to.
on another note, i briefly considered getting a new iphone 6s but i recently picked up an ipad mini strictly for facetiming (which i admit works pretty well) with my family. although the OS has improved some, i found that i still can't stand ios. i hate their ****ing walled garden approach and lack of a back button. i can't even use it before bed because apple won't allow flux on it.
just shoot me now if i had to use that OS every day on my phone.
that being said, android and ios are both much more similar now than ever before. pick which system works for you there is no right or wrong answer. i just happen to prefer alot of the things android currently provides that ios does not yet. who knows if they ever will
I mean honestly. I've been running three s4s in two years. My entire life used android (galaxy s1) my mom and dad have the s2 and s3, it was the galaxy family. Huge on android, then I dropped all three phones. I was forced to buy an iPhone 5s for $250 or so on eBay my ex actually begged me to give it a try because she hated the s4 mini that she had when she made the switch.
Keep in mind the 5s is old as fck.
September 20, 2013 was when the 5C and 5S was announced. This phones going on three years with not even a single GB of ram. It's fluid and smooth. It tells me it's future proof even without specs.
I am technically on the phone market, I do have money to spend on a phone, and it could honestly be android or iPhone. But in the end it's looking like the phone without far superior specs is more future proof than the phones that are just based on software support. While the nexus is pure android, that'll be a good place to go, android and ios are very identical now. It's all personal preference.
My best friend who loved his android G2 I believe dropped it, made a switch to iPhone 6 and he isn't a fan. He wishes he stayed on the android ship. He doesn't bring it up but when I confront him how he likes the phone he says he regrets it.
It's all preference. Sometimes the basic android users are the hardest to make the switch, and the ones who back them up so much are the ones ending up switching. Vice versa.

the nexus is basically google's iphone. that's the one i would go with if you want andriod, especially this latest one that has build quality on par with iphones. samsung looks nicer and is pretty bleeding edge specs wise but touchwiz, although better than ever, still holds pure android back from it's full potential.
motorola's phones are pretty nice too and almost pure android as well.

Pretty much spot on without getting into the whole fanboy arguments. If i went with android again I would consider Google phones only because of the price and the operating system has less bloatwware and runs smoother than touchwiz for example. I have been using Samsung phones the past few years and they are just as expensive as iPhones, lose their value at larger rate compared to iPhones and touchwiz is terrible.
I got fed up with android and have been going back and forth with android and IOS these past few years. I'm going to stick with Apple unless they are stupid enough to remove the headphone jack. Also Apple Music is awesome and I have no need to use iTunes which is huge plus for me since I loathe itunes

i can almost guarantee you that's happening. and then they will sell you a $29 adapter for your old headphones instead of throwing one in for free.

Yep these are my thoughts as well. They will sell the idea as making the phone slimmer but in reality its mainly a money ploy to sell a $29 adapter which costs .50 to make.
Apple will begin the trend and the rest will follow. The have already done it with the MacBook by offering one port only and the iPhone will be next.
Apple used to be one of the few smartphones without expandable memory and removable battery and now most phones don't include these options forcing consumers to buy new phones once the battery wears out and increase the companies sales by selling additional memory for a large margin.

So explain your first post in this thread. You fully admit to talking out of your ass?
You fcking faggt. Why would anyone keep track of the opposite market place when they're perfectly fine with the switch they've made? Why the fck would an android user keep track of ios and apple specs? Makes sense? 90% of the Android users here know nothing about ios or the specs. Especially with phones. This isn't pc gaming.
I'm basing my arguments with personal experience having dealt with Android my entire life. I don't need to keep up to date with the specs or software of Android any longer especially łf I'm completely satisfied with where I am not needing a new phone nor looking into the android market as of.
Edit: To my defense android has a million other phones. Blame the fcking marketing not the people. It took 6+ years for someone to now know nexus is pure android. There's a fcking learning curve to this bs.
Same very dam reason why people choose simplicity. One dam phone, just different generations.

I think it's pretty clever.
The core Apple users eat this type of thing up. They can't wait to buy that Iphone-exclusive Beats by Dre headset. It will not be functionally more useful or practical in any way, but it will be novel and exclusive.

Myself and a number of people I know was once an iPhone user and gladly switched to Android. It's boring and haven't change much at all. There is so much I can do with the Android that I just cannot do with iPhone. The convenient and flexibility of Android is too much to give up if I am going to switch back to iPhone.

Here's from last year: http://9to5mac.com/2014/06/03/apple-introduces-mfi-specs-for-lightning-cable-headphones-support-arriving-in-future-ios-update/
There are some advantages to getting rid of the standard headphone jack.
Im torn on this.
I would welcome the added benefits, but means a new compatible cable. Luckily my cable is removable, Im sure the top manufacturers will support the new lighting cable.
I also think most people will be against it, but like everything, people will gradually accept it.

What's the problem with using bluetooth headphones?
A. Battery life
B. Most will diminish the sound quality
I've only tried the Beats Studio via bluetooth and they sounded noticeably worse than with the cable. Some people can hear a hissing/static sound coming through along with some other issues (depending on the headphone).
Which is why the cable is important when it comes to headphones.
But the be honest, most people either can't tell the difference, don't care, or don't have the proper files to tell.
It baffles me how people can't tell the difference between a 128 mp3 to a lossless file, or the difference between a Beats to a VModa. Most people feel that 'louder' and bigger 'bass' is good, which is not entirely the case.
Same how some can't tell the difference between 480p and 1080p, how can they not tel????!!!!!l
true on so many levels
Majority of iPhone users are posers. Unless they completely devote their like to Safari, iTunes, and whatever exclusive shit Apple has then they're just using iPhones to be relevant.
Love my safari. Very fluid and smooth. Haven't touched another Web browser yet and I've always went back and forth with browsers on Android.
In fact, if I WERE to go back on Android, the thing I loved most about my S4's were the ability to swap batteries and memory sticks. What high end android phone still provide this? Samsung spent advertising money just to bash apple about this and went and removed the entire feature loyal fans loved most. Just to get rid of the plastic feeling? I'd much rather the plastic feeling with swappable battery and memory stick. Carrying around an extra battery that was weightless without having to charge your phone was an amazing thing.
In fact if my S4 didn't break three fcking times from falling I'd still have my S4. I loved my S4 but hated touchwiz. I hated touchwiz so much I rooted the shit and installed different roms and every rom didn't have clear calls on the phone. The microphone sounded like a tunnel.
I'd give android another 2-3 years before I give them a go again. It's not bad to make a change every 4-5 years and test the waters.
