Kobe COULD be a much better player right now than he is - altho not top 20 obviously.

But he thinks it isnt "alpha" enough to have an unremarkable statline and just fit in as part of the team.

Instead hes still seeking attention and putting up remarkable statlines - except theyre remarkable in all the wrong ways.

But, hey... Thats kobe for ya.

would be careful to say this. compare how dirk and kobe are playing. kobe is still 10x more flexible and agile than dirk. kobe can still drive with high speed to the basket, he still can dribble, he still can jump high while shooting. his shots are just not falling and he is taking many stupid shots.

how many achilles has dirk blown out?

this doesnt even deserve explanation

7 footers who can shoot dont need agility and quickness, they can just be a tree that can take uncontested jumpers due to their release

kobe doesn't have the luxary of being able to release over his head and never be contested...shooting guards need athleticism to gain separation for an uncontested shot

when athletes get into their late 30's they lose athleticism

when anyone blows out their achiles they have a hard time doing anything physical again

these two reasons are why kobe cannot perform like he used to anymore

if you learned anything new in this post you are legit retarded AF

The difference is night and day. Notice how Dirk makes all the correct plays. Passes when he needs to and only takes high percentage shots. Current homeboy is on a quest to put on the most grotesque statistical season in the history of basketball.

Please don't take away something from Dirk's legacy for just been tall. The fact that Dirk can still play the game at high level is not only because he is tall or can shoot overhead. Dirk is very foundamentaly sound player with great shot (he is better shooter than Kobe) who do the things he could for years not much more, not much less. And it is not an easy task to keep big body in shape when you are that age (37).

When did Dirk tear an Achilles and his rotator cuff?

Seriously and not based on the last three years; I'd take Dirk over Kobe to start my franchise.

This thread is more about Dirk's greatness than Kobe

1 - It's easier to play more years if you're a big. Malone, KAJ, Duncan, Shaq, etc all played a lot of years at a good level
2 - The team Dirk has is a lot of better than Kobe's make no mistake about it. Lakers has Roy Hibbert, rookies and a bunch of journeyman/chuckers.

But I have to agree that Kobe could be playing better and more of a team style BB. He's shooting like he's gunning for the scoring title or something.

They join Dirk (and Carlisle yes) and they all play great.. hmmm

There are countless guards who aged better than Kobe.

Ray Allen

Ray Allen fell off a Cliff at the exact same age as Kobe. Nor did he play at an All star level as long as Kobe.

Off the top of my head: Stockton, Kidd, Nash.

Kobe is adapting so poorly, that you would be hard pressed to find a guard who played in his late 30s that was worse.

Knowing your role and playing it well makes you a better player than somebody with more talent that makes repeated terrible decisions and hurts the team.

reggie miller was pretty solid as well.

and again, kobe is in a super shooting slump and he is taking stupid shots....but the games i watched this season (3) and last year.....he still can drive pretty fast to the basket. can dribble. jumps high when shooting.....

this one is really bad. he is shooting like 20% from three this season....and now he takes the shot about 4 feet behind the three point line and 18 sec left on the shot clock?

What he can do doesn't matter. All that matters is what he does do, and he typically chooses the terrible shots at the detriment of his team.
