I'm not sure if ESPN and all the sports shows out there have been showing just how historic Steph Curry's game was last night, when he scored 40 points on 20 true shots.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/...=&order_by=pts

There ^ is a list of games with 40 or more points with 18 or less shots.

As you can see, many of them ended up getting to the foul line A LOT, and that was how they got 40 points on such little field goal attempts. A foul line trip is equal to one possession. So 2 FT's = one "true shot". So, most of these players took around 30 "shots". Curry only went to the line twice (for 4 FT's). So, Curry only took 20 true shots.

So...it appears that scoring 40 points on Curry's TS% that he hit tonight only happened once before....Jeff Hornacek in 1994, who had almost the exact same statline as Steph Curry tonight. 14-18 FG (8-8 for threes) with 4 foul shots for 40 points...LOL.

Lets see if he can score like that in the playoffs.........Plenty of superior scoring performances than that

Dirks 48 on 15 shots against OKCs great defensive bigs (Scubaka, Collison, Pork) in the playoffs completely shits on this

No it doesn't...did you not read "true shots"?

2 free throws equal one true shot, so Dirk had 27 "true shots" to score 48 points, while Curry had 20 "true shots" to score 40.

it was a great performance but it was against kemba walker and the Charlotte Hornets without Al Jefferson. Just saying man. He's a great shooter and it's a special performance for the 1st half of the season. His team was winning it either way though so whatever I guess.

Bro Steph has been doing this ALL YEAR against every time he has played. The Warriors are 20-0.

Wtf are you talking about "but it was against the hornets"?

I'm debating whether it's historical, not discrediting Curry.

The Most over used excuse for someone's sucesss these days is to blame the compition. They are all professional players it doesn't matter who the fck it was against, curry would do this to anyone.

I see ur point. I don't think any single game can be considered historical without context. What is for sure tho, this kind of confidence and shooting from 3 is dam right historical. I remember 2 seasons ago he breaks the record for most 3's in a season. WOW we all thought. The next season he comes back and does it again. This season, its just like Fuuuuuaaark, can this guy get any better?

I only been following ball closely since 2010, but its great to finally just see a player come out and be so phucking dominant.

Curry is a historic player in general. Historic, meaning, "Will be remembered by history as an all-time great player who transformed the game." If not like Jordan and Magic, at least like Mikan and Cousy.

We don't have to make up statistics to back that up, just need to watch the guy play.

Well yeah, a playoff game is worth 10 times more than a regular season game, but it is not the playoffs yet. That's 5 months away.

So for a regular season game, this is about as good as it gets.

Al Jefferson is only really known for offense anyway.
