I see many people hating on the fact that they are going to be the SB halftime act this year.
What is so wrong with Coldplay? Why do you hate them?

It's not that people hate it, it just sucks when you get redneck dumbasses organising sports events that don't play Lit music at halftime... coldplay dont pump the players and crowd up.....you need shit like future, drizzy, migos etc

Wayyyyy too mellow. Elevator music is more adrenaline-pumping than coldplay. They're just boring as f.uck.

Radio friendly rock is usually boring. No energy, no passion, dull lyrics, and so on. But there are exceptions sometimes.
One of the factors is that Coldplay sounds like a radio-friendly version of a lot of people's favorite bands. The people who like the kind of music that Coldplay makes are probably the biggest haters. Because Coldplay is the filtered, bland and generic version of the stuff they like.
Like U2 before them, or like Nickelback for hard rock. Hell just Google "Grammy winners" for more examples.

u2 is hated?
the reason they're hated is because they're popular. it's as simple as that

They have some good songs, but overall are lame as hell.

Sky full of stars is a great song.
Some of their early works were good. Yellow, shiver, clocks were good songs.
Warning Sign and God put a smile upon your face are their best.

Coldplay aren't great musicians, they are average writers at best.
But to be honest, one has to give them credit for creating songs that are memorable and resonate with people.
They're not suck per se, just not worthy of their success according to some.
I can be a music snob at times, but they don't bother me.

American Football and Coldplay. That must be the worst combination in the world.

Considering the last four superbowl performances were Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Beyonce, and Madonna, I dont see why people are making such a big deal out of Coldplay.
The superbowl halftime music has not been marketed toward football fans for a quite a few years.

I can see why people think Coldplay isn't a good fit for the Super Bowl, but they're good and engaging live. I think you guys will be surprised.
And seriously, like the guy above me said, this is way better than f*cking Katy Perry or Bruno Mars. :oldlol:

All of them are better than Coldplay. Katy Perry's tits are ****ing phenominal. I sat through the 2nd quarter last year just so I would not miss them.

Madonna is an iconic pop star though. In 10,15, 20 years no band will say they wanted to be a band because of Coldplay.

if the NFL really wanted to appeal to the majority of football fans they would get a country artist.

How?
Bruno Mars' performance wasn't bad. Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz put up a decent show. Coldplay? I can get that the music is objectively 'good' to people who like it but... it's too melancholy, downbeat, slow, etc.
I think Taylor Swift would be a MUCH better halftime performer and I like her music about as much as Coldplay (so not at all)

Country artist would be better than Coldplay for a halftime show.
