This is really random but I was thinking about it this morning for some reason.

They were both created in the 1930's... Daffy was created as a foil to Bugs Bunny whiles Donald was created as a foil to Mickey Mouse

Daffy by Warner Brothers and Donald by Disney

Donald is more iconic, but Daffy is easily the funnier of the two.

The only good thing you can about Donald is that at least he doesn't get destroyed as badly as Micky vs Bugs.

Iconic? Probably Donald...he's more likely to be recognized around the world.

But Daffy wipes the floor with that lame duck pound for pound when you're talking about character and laughs.

I can sit here and rattle off tons of hilarious Daffy lines/scenes but nobody knows what the hell Donald says half of the time...but we know most of it isn't funny anyway.

Donald FTW.
As mentioned throughout the thread look at his spin offs.

Why do people like Daffy so much? He's got a bad attitude. He's envious, self absorbed, he constantly is pointing out others faults without recognizing his own. Come to think of it he may be the first millenial. No wonder ISH can relate :lol

Meh...he's pretty self aware a lot of the time. My favorite is Chuck Jones' Daffy Duck.

The reason he's so angry all the time is because of how ****ing easy Bugs Bunny has it...he's the star and gets star treatment no matter what he does. Daffy gets shit on at every turn. The attitude comes as a result of all of that and is part of the shtick.

Duck Amuck (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2j6pt1) is a great example. You gotta feel for him. He just wants to be a star, too. But it's never going to happen while Bugs is around.

This all reminds me of the KD/Westbrook chemistry from many years ago actually :oldlol:

More like Shaq and Kobe? :lol
Maybe if he could applaud and accept Bug's success he could move on and enjoy life. But he lets envy get the best of him and it pretty much affects his everyday life. Like I said, maybe people can relate to him better because he's more human than pretty much any cartoon character. He portrays humans as it is.
I was more a Marvin the Martian fan personally.

This. Disney is just bigger, which makes most of their highly utilized characters more iconic. Doesn't guarantee that they are better though.

Donal is vastly more iconic and has a better character with better storylines.

How could he though? Bugs Bunny has life, fame, and fortune handed to him on a silver platter. He hasn't really had to work for anything...he's the huge star and everything goes his way all of the time.

While combating the bunny is completely futile, Daffy does speak to the human plight of rising up and fighting against injustice even where you know there is little to no hope of success.

There are countless other characters who have gotten the shit kicked out of them by Bugs Bunny -- but none of them were ever as self-aware of what was happening to them as Daffy Duck was. I'd go nuts too if I were him. Most of the others were blissfully unaware cogs.

Daffy is the cartoon version of Howard Beale. He's Neo trying to fight a Matrix completely and absolutely stacked against him.

Daffy Duck is the shit dude. Marvin is one of my favorites too though :oldlol:

As a rival Bugs Bunny was one of the most ridicolus characters ever. His wit, adaptability and planning skills pretty much neutralized anything Daffy tried to do. After every failed plan Daffy would get more creative.. yet somehow bugs was always a step ahead :biggums: This isn't Wil-E Coyote making dumb plan after dumb plan... Daffy would seriously get innovative

I love classic Daffy. Pre- Chuck Jones Daffy. Actually pre=1946 Daffy is my favorite. I grew up watching looney tunes...yes they used to show it back than, it's not PC for today's kids.
We didn't have Disney Channel when I was a kid, so I didn't watch Donald. We had basic cable.

Twenty years ago this is a tie, but the limitations on Loony-Toon re-runs these days and the expansion of Disney puts this in Donald's favor.

This is crazy because I was reading about this at work yesterday. I was on wiki on Who Framed Roger Rabbit and of course that's the only time you've ever seen these two guys on screen together along with Mickey/Bugs.

It could never happen now because these companies would never wanna work together imo.

But back then, well that's what makes us miss those older days.

Just now when I'm typing this 'Donald' is auto posted, where as he assumes 'Daffy' is a wrong word.. that should tell you all :D
