They dam well should, considering he's brought two more rings to the franchise than did another #23.

Seeing as they retired Dan Marino's jersey who isn't even in the same sport, I'd say yes.

His jersey isn't "retired", it's just there to honor him being a Miami sports icon. Heat players can still wear number 13.

As for OP's question, Lebron's jersey will absolutely be retired by the Heat. No question.

The jersey isn't retired. Mike Miller wore #13. Neither Marino's jersey nor MJ's are in the rafters next to the championship banners and Mourning/Hardaway, they're tucked away in the nosebleeeds

Hell, they might even retire Kobe's jersey..

Wade told me in the 13 years he's played for the Heat, he's never ever seen Pat Riley let an opposing player into the inner sanctum like that, using the team's facilities, and that frankly, he was shocked. Of course, that's the respect that Kobe has earned, and the two old friends had a great, long talk.

They'll retire LeBron's and Bosh's jersey

And probably Haslem too. 3x champion (Only he and Wade have that distinction for the Heat) and all-time leading rebounder.

As long as they don't retire Chalmers jersey, were good

Oh man, I really miss the Heatles days.

Whether you liked LeBron or not, every game was entertaining as hell lol.

It'll be interesting to see what they do. Do I think they will? I'd say yes. Do I think they should? Strangely enough there's something nagging at me that doesn't want them to. On one hand he ushered in the greatest basketball era Miami has ever seen, and on the other hand he only spent 4 seasons there and then ditched the team. I'm kind of torn on this one, but if they do retire it, it won't bother me

And quick question, what players have had their jerseys retire by multiple teams? And this is not counting Michael Jordan, that's some bs Miami pulled by putting his jersey in there

Off the top of my head, KAJ, Wilt (3 teams), Barkley, and Drexler.

Yeah, that's how I kinda looked at it.

I'm all for retiring LeBron's jersey in Miami, but I won't be really bothered if they decided not to (well, I guess it wouldn't make sense since they retired Jordan's :lol ).

Off the top of my head:

Barkley
Wilt
KAJ
Moses

EDIT:

I think Oscar Robertson as well.

I forgot about Moses and Big-O. Of active players I'd say Lebron, Garnett and Chris Paul have a good shot to join that list.

Carmelo and Dwight as well maybe?

I always thought Orlando should've retired Shaq's jersey as well.

I highly doubt anyone is going to want to retire Dwight's jersey. The dude straight up shafted Orlando and forced his way out, then clowed LA and chickened out of there, and so far has severly underperformed in Houston compared to his Orlando-level of play

Well, they already retired the jersey of someone else who was never really one of them...

When did they retire #23 anyway. Seems like its been worn lately

GrapeApe

Again, the Marino and Jordan jerseys aren't technically "retired". They are simply honoring a Miami sports icon and the GOAT basketball player. They hang separately from the true retired jerseys of Mourning and Hardaway. Lebron could have worn #23, he just chose not to. Mike Miller wore #13. When Lebron retires, I'm sure his #6 will be retired, and it's safe to say no Heat player will ever wear #3 again. I also think Bosh's #1 and Haslem's #40 will hang in the rafters.

He deserves it. He was there 4 seasons, won 2 MVP & 2 FMVP.

SaltyMeatballs

They definitely should and I think they will.

In his 4 years there he got them 2 chips, and brought em in the finals all 4 years. He even won 2 MVPs and 2 FMVPs for himself.

Still though, Dwight was the only reason they were relevant for the latter part of the decade. Dude won 3 DPOY awards and hold the franchise record for points and rebounds.

If he plays out the rest of his career in Houston and a average respectable numbers (15/10), I don't see why they won't retire him.

Hard to say. If it were up to me NO. Wade was the real franchise player that deserves it. Team hopping mercenary left when the going got tough. But they'll give it to him since it's not up to me.

I mean it's already retired if you're thinking of his original one.
