This Kobe Bryant "20th" season thing is BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION.
Let's be real..Kobe "retired" 4 seasons ago and has barely played since. And when he does play...it's better that he DOESN't play.

Kobe Bryant has WEAK longevity..he hasn't PLAYED 20 seasons cause he is so often injured.

Garnett and Tim Duncan have superior longevity to Kobe. Especially Tim Duncan who's the overall greater player.

Garnett:

RS - 50135
Playoffs - 5283
Total - 55418

Kobe:

RS - 47280
Playoffs - 8641
Total - 55921

So not only does Kobe have more total minutes played than KG as a shooting guard, but he also has over 3000 more playoffs minutes when the game is played at another intensity level.

OP is a f*cking retard.

Kevin Garnett is 7 foot barefoot and has the body where he can play decent defense even while having one leg.

Kobe is a 6'4'' guard that relies on pure athleticism to get the job done

One will be able to play with advanced age and wear, the other will not...

Not in my book bud. Gimmick All-NBA season.. placed at center (the weakest position) despite being called a PF throughout his career - especially when it was convenient earlier in his career with the more popular Shaq and Yao Ming at the center spots locking up the All-Star games. Dude's a coward and a fraud.. not surprised.

because that was before he blew out his Achilles

I shouldn't of said rely purely on athleticism, that was an overstatement. I should of said KG's game that he has been playing for years requires far less athleticism than what Kobe's would.

A defensive 7 foot Center needs less mobility than a dynamic Shooting Guard...

Who would of thunk it?

Joakim Noah was first team All-NBA not too long ago, and he isn't exactly the greatest scorer ever. I'm on my phone, so can't check, but I'd be very surprised if his ppg average surpassed 13 and a half. Not to mention, basketball is a two way game, and right now, Tim is murking everyone in the league in defensive stats.

I agree it's a stupid thread but acting like being a big man in the NBA doesn't take a toll on your body is ****ing ludicrous. Big men take A BEATING every single game. It's not the same as a guard losing his legs but it's still impressive being able to hold your own in the paint at KG's age.

Get real. :oldlol: Also, at least Kobe got all of those spots as a guard (his natural position).. while Duncan (who is realistically a center) masqueraded as a PF his whole career just so he wouldn't lose All-NBA spots and All-Star game spots to Shaq (the more superior, dominant and more popular player). You realize a player can be a top 10 player and also not still be in his prime...right?

Duncan's 13 season is absurdly under-rated....was at the time...and still is now. He was the best player on a team that almost won the title.

You make it sound like he performed poorly in the playoffs or something. Hell, he would have deserved finals MVP if Allen didn't make that shot imo.

The funny thing is that Garnett never won as the Alpha because he didn't shoot enough. So he had to collude with 2 Alpha Hall of Famers to win his only ring. Didn't even get an MVP. GayG is a scrub and shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as HungBe.

Surprised no one even mentioned that Kobe has been playing first-option for the entirety of his career, whereas Garnett dropped that role since moving to Boston. That's because he was never a first-option his entire career.

Here's the facts:
Kobe was a sidekick/Robin for the first 8 seasons of his career(1996-2004) and first-option from 2004-05 til this season (12 seasons). But because he only played 6 games during the 2013-14, should we even count that as a season? I say no. Do we even count his 2014-15 season as well since he only played 35 games? So that's 10 and a half full seasons as the man.

Garnett was first-option from his sophomore season, 1996-97, until 2006-07 season. That's 11 seasons. '99 was a lockout year and 47/50 is 94%. One can even argue that he was the true leader of the 2008 Celtics team too. That's 12 seasons as The Man!

he did age well. he was putting up elite numbers (27/5/5) at 34 years old. what the **** was he supposed to do? average that till 40? Look at Dwyane Wade, he's 34 this year and averaging 18,4,3.. lmao, Kobe's 37, he was born in the 70's man, let him die in peace, that sad thing is Kobe would probably still be putting up 25 ppg if he never had those injuries, we all knew it when it happened but we didn't fully believe it because it was Kobe. what does that say about him? we just assumed he could overcome a torn achilles.

Mr Feeny
12-07-2015, 03:41 AM
Dominique sure did! And averaged 30 :D

It's not a slight on Kobe. He just takes a ton of dumb shots. And at this point of his career he can no longer make them. He's just wrecking his career averages and tarnishing his own legacy. If he were to take 10 shots a game and focus on racking up a few assists, he'd help the kids develop as well as go out with dignity and with his head held high, as a leader who's helped develop the next batch of kids for the future.

This to me is one of the best examples of how easily legacies can be affected. If the Spurs win in 2013, Timmy D picks up Title #5 and a 4th Finals MVP at 37 while being 5-0 in the Finals. He's getting Top 5 All-Time talks and his 2013 Season wouldn't be underappreciated.
