oh the horror

I remember when the story originally broke, most people heard from eye witnesses that there were three shooters. Which were described as three white males. I REMEMBER this being said.
Then when the "official" story came out it turned into two suspects and one was female, and both Muslim.
Has this been explained by any of these news outlets about how or wtf happened ?
Found an article out there where they talk a bit about that. Someone lead me to a link if you have info that fills in the blanks

It was just an inaccurate witness report.
She could have heard or seen anything her mind wanted her to hear or see.
I've done plenty of these drills. We took other Marines, blindfolded them, hog tied them, and threw them into boxes the size of coolers.
We let them out, and ask what did you see, or hear, or feel? How long were you in the box? How far did we carry you? How many people grabbed you?
Generally, they're wrong 100% of the time. For most, it takes training to be able to accurately recall what happened in a high pressure situation. That's why, during an investigation, one person's version is good, but several people's versions, matched and overlaid on each other, is even better.

Pretty much. Everything can't be accurate during a time like that

Even in situations less stressful than that, eyewitnesses can be pretty shaky.
And the words used in the questioning of a witness can impact their testimony

one is either roaming free, or the eyewitnesses were wrong.

I was listening to the scanner and they talked about 3 suspects quite a lot when they were in shoot outs with the SUV.
For along time they said they had one alive in custody but I don't know what happened to that...
