Can anyone who understands finance explain if this is a bad idea or not? I don't know much but as far as I understand, with inflation, wouldn't a contract 10 years from now be worth more than one today?

Like if I can sign contract today of 10M/year, I'd be able to get one 10 years from now for like 12M/year?

Retro Lebrons will be as big as the retro Jordans in the year 2040, 2045

This means Larby's "career success :lol " will be shoved down our throats for the rest of our lives in order to sell the old mans shoes

But everyone from our time period will know he is a true BETA

Yes he probably loses money in the long term, but even if Lebron somehow went full OJ Simpson mode, Nike still has to pay him. It's working both ways.

It's a life time deal though, when he's 40-50 years old he won't be worth as much if he wants to sign a new shoe deal then

It's probably adjusted

Even if it's not, inflation is pretty low nowdays also. Last time I checked, 2015 it was around 0.2%? or something? If then it would take 350 years for his effective wealth to be halved

The company (Nike) can file a lawsuit possibly to reverse the contract because he's ruining the reputation of the company.. Right?

Lol. I think it's a good deal for lebron if it really is 25m per year. Are lebron's really going to be selling that much 30 years later? I'm inclined to say no but who knows. Either way that makes him $1bill in 40 years. Not a bad deal at all.
