I'm not saying you have to root for him.
But all the hate -- it's too bad. The haters are missing out. After this season you will miss him.
I hated MJ with a passion when he was playing for the Bulls. I'm a Suns fan and the 93 finals loss was devastating. I wasted so much energy hating MJ that I didn't fully appreciate the impact he had on the L until he was gone.
You don't have to like the man as a person. You don't have to prefer his style of basketball. You can criticize him for his ball hogging (but I think management is equally to blame there). But it's your loss if you can't stand back and on some level appreciate when one of the greats steps aside. I'm personally hoping he can turn it around this season and at least show a few flashes. Fingers crossed for a 50-pt game at some point. We know he's gunning for it.
