I dont know where in Cali you're from, and I cant really speak on behalf of LA but in the bay area, with the people I know and/or have associated with, its either been you're a lakers fan or Warriors fan. Liking Kobe is despite the point. Obviously this is mere generalization but for me, it's been rare where a lakers fan was an actual warriors fan as well. There are a ton of lakers fans in the bay area btw and when the 07 playoffs happened, a lot of these lakers fans (that i associated with) all of a sudden became interested in the warriors. Obviously this doesnt make them fans...or does it? Maybe i'm too old school with how I define a fan, idk.

As far as being rivals, I agree that they arent. I'm just stating that there does exist a nor-cal and so-cal rivalry relationship in sports. Lakers and Warriors have just never really been relevant at the same time to establish a strong rivalry. Mullin vs magic was the most recent time where both teams were "good." But even that was very short lived. Clippers and Warriors rivalry is budding nice, mainly due to playoff play. As for the Clippers and Lakers, they are rivals just as the A's and Giants are or the 9ers and raiders, or the Jets and Giants, mets and yankees...
