Prime Dirk is still the GOAT
Steph is the GOAT 3pt shooter
Dirk is the GOAT midrange shooter and his shooting outside of midrange >> Stephs shooting outside 3pters

Think that he's definitely the GOAT 3pt-shooter... And he's ONE of the GOAT overall shooters.
Is there anyone that still thinks that OVERALL shooting = 3pt-shooting, though?

You can't say that until he finishes his career. Most of us KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT that he'll most likely be, that he's surely on his way there but foe fvck's sake let him retire first or at least let him start to decline before making that statement, he haven't peaked yet.

Curry is shooting 61% on 2 pointers this year.

Curry is shooting 61% on 2 pointers this year.
43% of his 2 pointer are at the rim, layups and such. Wouldn't qualify that as a shot, so to say.
But with that said, his finishing has been impressive for a small guy. He is actually better at the rim this season than LeBron.
73% vs 70% or something..
Wesbrook only shots 61% at the rim.

the greatest shooter should be guys who can score when tightly defended in a 1 on 1 setting or even with doubles/triple teams
they dont need to run around screens. they dont need step backs. they just rise up over guys.
people like kobe/dirk/bird etc..

Great shooters aren't guys who shoot 33% from 3.

GOAT purest shooter ever and it's not close. The guy is a video game out there. Never seen anyone with his pure range, lightning release and ability to get it off on the move.

People need to realize how hard it is to be accurate shooting on the move versus set shots. Most great 3 pt shooters are great in set shots because they have their feet under them and are balanced. But being accurate on the move is a different animal. And you add in Curry's handles, lighting release and accuracy and you just have to admit that he was blessed with a God given gift that you can't teach. GOAT level stuff.

Also Curry is insane when he shoots set shots.

kobe would have 45% career three point shooting if he didnt take attempts like this 90% of the time
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQd2h4X0O2E
33% is amazing considering the difficulty of his looks
its technically 50% on 2's since 33% is 100 points per 50 shots
if someone like steve kerr took the type of shots kobe took he would have shot 15%
its all about context. kobe was the greatest bad shot maker of all time... by far

LOL, Kobe's career FG% is not even 45% let alone 3 point %
That includes all the dunks, layups, fastbreaks, open shots he takes. Plus all the defensive coverage Shaq/Pau received in the post
Kobe's been the least defended player of this era, and still only shot 44% for his career :lol
And now you wanna argue he couldve been a 45% 3 point shooter???

kobe is the greatest difficult shot maker of all time
hate all you want.
:lol
if lebron took kobe attempts he'd be at under 20% fg's
keep protecting that fg%. too bad he cant protect his finals win%

Well....
Thats cause every shot attempt is considered 'difficult' for Kobe's standards
Hence a 44% career shooter :lol
Kobe is the best bad shot maker ever, but Curry doesnt take bad shots.

Idiots lol
They say he isn't as good mid range then neglect the fact that Dirk is 7 feet tall and that is the reason he can make midrange shots better. He is not a better shooter, just taller.

Truth but biased posters think Dirk taking catch and shoot jump shots over shorter defenders is a better measure of shooting skill :lol

Kobe is the best bad shot maker ever, but Curry doesnt take bad shots.
and if he gets 5 titles... i'l admit that it was an equally good strategy on his behalf.
but as far as i'm concerned. being able to make bad shots is needed allot of the time against tough defensive teams in the playoffs.
notice how lebron in 2014 faced a tough defense and passed it out when kawhi was on him. protecting his fg%
notice how lebron forced bad shots against a great defense in 2015. settling for bad fade's vs iggy
imagine if lebron could hit bad shots. you cant get open threes and layups all the time. teams usually figure out a gameplan after a trial and error period
lebron got figured out. only a matter of time before curry gets figured out.
this is where the player must evolve

Can we wait until he retires or is about to retire. As of now I would say yes he's the greatest 3pt shooter. Pure shooter even.

he relies too heavily on screens
if curry was in a 1 on 1 with prime iverson... who wins

1 game out of how many
lebron had an entire series in the 2015 finals in which he shot that percentage from beyond 5 feet

That's not fair to Dirk because he could get off a shot in iso, in the triple threat stance, with his back to the basket along with the set shot. And let's not forget his legendary step back. He's the GOAT big man shooter ever along with Bird. Both are GOAT level special and should be appreciated for their talents.

We're just judging him as a shooter..nothing else. As a shooter he's on his way as the best ever. As a guard or all time list not even close. Iverson is better.
