You guys must be like 15 for making fun of something like that. It's a pet just like any other. Yeah, most people prefer dogs, but cats can be damn good pets as well.
I don't find it funny.. And I don't find anything remotely wrong with it either. Especially considering it's a practice. Emotional attachment goes a long way in animals, regardless of what species.
While such circumstances may vary for me, I know plenty of people who'd prefer animals over humans, let alone love their pets enough to not travel or even work.
