View Full Version : What will the Pelicans do with trades this year?

Pelicans seem like a team that should take their ace out (AD) and then reshuffle the deck. What will/should they do?

They have 2 expirering contracts in ryan Anderson 8 and Eric Gordon 15. And then have jrue and tyreke with 1 more season (can they or will they opt out?)

Did they sign Asik to a long term deal to keep him or to avoid losing value by him walking? Is he a good contract or has he disappointed?

Part of the reason I am curios is because the Knicks need Ryan Anderson and a guard. Jrue, tyreke, or even Eric Gordon could fit. But the most valuable trade piece is Robin Lopez but they already have Asik. And then afflalo but they have tyreke and Gordon.

What are the Pelicans trying to do? Do they think they can sign free agents this offseason if they have space? Do they want players under contract?

they are such a disappointment

they have a lot of individually talented players on that roster yet they suck.

They suffered too many injuries early on in the season.

Too early to tank the season away, especially since the West isn't doing as well as last year. They can probably sneak in the playoffs comfortably with around 42 wins. Obviously they have to go like 36-23 the rest of the way to get there, but I think that's possible now that Tyreke is back.

Good news is.... Eric Gordon finally comes off the books this season along with Ryan Anderson, and Jrue Holiday/Tyreke comes off the books next season. So they can definitely build a decent team around Davis in the next 2 years if the sign/trade for the right players.

Obviously for them to take the next step, Davis has to take the next step into the level of prime KG/Duncan.

So are you saying trade or let expire and rebuild through free agency?

Who do they keep out of ,jrue, tyreke, Gordon?

Even though neither are teams I follow I want Simmons to go to Minnesota or Pelicans just to see if those group of young guns can ever turn into something great or if they'll just be the "next" team

They should trade everyone that doesn't have a long term future with the team imo.

Sadly, that is pretty much everyone on the roster outside of Davis and Asik...and Asik only because his contract is toxic.

Oh what a terrible few years in terms of team building this has been...and it was so easy to see as well.

Been on this shit since day 1...really sucks...Davis is special...and they are ruining years of his career it looks like at this point.

Anything can be turned around quickly when you have a franchise player like Davis...so hopefully they work some magic this summer

Jrue Holiday for Goran Dragic

It's bound to happen.

If they really don't think Jrue or tyreke wasn't part of their future I think they could get pretty good value.

Even Gordon might be a "good value expiring deal"?

RobinLopez, afflalo, d Williams, and a 1st
For
Asik, jrue or tyreke, and ryan Anderson

How close is that?

Which team benefits enough to make that deal?

Are you thinking the Pelicans need players under contract or that both teams/players just need a change

I doubt anyone is giving up much for Gordon...and making a deal for him work would be really hard.

Reke, Jrue, and Anderson all have legit trade value though imo.

I think they would be better served by trading them all...even for half value...hard tanking...and rebuilding the team via free agency this summer.

I actually like Evans and Jrue as players....if they are right/healthy, but I'm not sure they are going to be kept long term.

If they are...okay...I have no issue with not trading them, but if the Pels end up letting them go in free agency down the road and don't trade them now....that is a huge **** up.

They need to trade Anderson. sometimes he takes more shots than Davis, which is just retarded. they need to trade or let go all their guards tbh. none of them are worth shit getting the ball to Davis.

Asik has disappointed. that's because he can't play alongside Davis.

they need a stretch 4, a quality PG, a defensive wing, and a 3pt specialist.

I would be shopping everyone if I was the Pelicans. Tyreke, Gordon and Holiday are all fine players but they do not help this team at all. Rarely are they all healthy and you aren't going to win Ajinca, Cunningham and Ish Smith being the first players off your bench. Anderson is nice but is limited in what he can bring to this specific team. I wouldn't hesitate to see what I could get back for him.

Trade everyone not named Anthony Davis.

Do you see ad as a center? Because you just named Ryan Anderson twice and the idea I was hoping was that they needed to unload him

Eric Gordon to Cleveland for a second round pick.

AD should be a center. but his role should be similar to Duncan. sometimes a center, sometimes a PF. depending on what the situation calls for.

Would the Pels trade the #1 trade asset in the league for two bench players and a decent lotto pick?

They wouldn't take any and every asset BOS has.

Ugh.

Reke, Jrue, and Anderson all have legit trade value though imo.

Anderson is one of the 4 worst defensive players in the NBA. No one is banging down that door.

Jrue has career threatening medical issues. No one is banging down that door.

Reke is on a friendly deal and would net a fair package. But he is far from the player teams want. More problematically, the Pels NEED him.

If they aren't keeping them...you move them even if you get 10 cents on the dollar.

It's simple.

What is better? Get something in return for this guys now....be bad and get a better pick...or

Keep them, lose them in free agency, get nothing...

I don't care if it's literally the 40th pick in the draft and cash for Ryan...you do that immediately if you are giving up on this season and don't plan to pay him

This team was built by idiots that rushed the process...been obvious for 3 years now

FYI...teams are calling the Pelicans about Ryan as we speak...it's currently being reported.

I mean...if they could move Reke, Ryan, and Jrue....for something like a first rounder, a couple 2nd rounders, and maybe a young player....I think you have to do it. Again, assuming they aren't stupid enough to think those are the guys they are going to be rolling with 5 years from now...

But this is the kind of decision smart teams make. The magic ****ed this up with Afflalo a couple years ago and cost them a better chance to land Wiggins. If the Pelicans don't clean house soon it's probably going to be a large mistake. I'm assuming they can't get rid of Asik, but if they could...shed him as well.

They'd be left with Davis, Pondexter, Ajinca, Gee, and Cunningham I think....with tons of cap space and a likely top 5 pick if they shed the above players.

Sucks because the last few years would be worthless, but better to just admit their horrible and pathetically short sighted mistakes than to continue down a losing path just because they are stubborn and unwilling to admit they were wrong

Who knows....this franchise is beyond frustrating and it's a shame what they've done
