I'll take number #8 Kobe over Curry today and take # 24 tomorrow. That's how serious it is.

I value defense a thing that Prime Kobe was a lot better than Steph at, although it's very close.

somehow, Curry is taking all these crazy shots without freezing out his team mates

2006 Kobe was elite offensively but bad defensively.
2008 was great defensively and great defensively.
You get either one or the other with Kobe, not both.
That'd be like if I combined 2012 Lebron with the athleticism of 2009 Lebron lol.

Steph has been all defense level good this season.
I keep seeing people hate on him for it, but he is picking dudes pockets consistently, and people act like they haven't tried to go at Steph all the time to tire him out. He is incredible defensively, and far better than someone like Klay who has somehow got a rep as a good defender.

Kobe detractors pretend to be the authority on this guy's career , but they don't know shit.
01 Kobe and 03 Kobe were the perfect balance. But even then in 06 Kobe was being lauded for being both sides of the ball, maybe it wasn't as elite as the early 00's, but there's guys are who are ranked higher all time who are suspect defenders or part time defenders, like Shaq and Magic.

Kobe's defense in '06 was trash.. you'll see the same thing said about his defense back then (threads from '06). It was the season Tex Winter publically called out his lazy defense.
LOL at thinking Kobe is a better defender than Shaq
'01 Kobe was a regular season chucker, who made Phil publically involve him into trade talks, while Kobe was out there asking for MVP's and scoring titles and calling the offense boring right after Shaq had the MDE season :facepalm So no, up until the playoffs, he didn't have any perfect balance. Where as in 2003, it was the other way around.

lol
whats funny about that statement?
03 Kobe was probably the best version of him. Just because he tore his labrum in the playoffs and wasn't able to produce like he would of liked doesn't take away from how good he was then.
01 Kobe put up 33/7/7 on 50+% FG while leading his team in scoring and assist as they became the only team in nba playoff history to sweep their conference in the playoffs and go 12-0 leading into the finals. He also led the entire league in 4th quarter playoff scoring that year
both could be ranked over 08 and there would be no problem with that.

If you want to argue that the best version of Kobe is the version that wasn't even the best player on his team throughout the season.... go right ahead.
Very convenient of you to leave out the regular season and finals as well.

Kobe was the best player on the Lakers in 03
01 Kobe in the regular season = 29/6/6.. 01 Kobe in the finals = 25/8/6 and aside from game 1 where he struggled coming off that huge break put up like 27/9/4 for the rest of the series including leading the team in scoring for games 2 and 3, then leading them in assist in games 4 and 5. In the last two games put up 19/10/9 and 26/12/6.
not saying they are the best versions, but its silly to just laugh them off when compared to 08

curry is already better than kobe
more efficient, more consistent, better teammate, and has a higher net impact than kobe's ever mustered.
curry is like magic with goat-level offense (magic with the passing, curry with the shooting).

Which is why I have Bird ahead of Magic :confusedshrug:
But Magic was the clear leader for 4 out of 5 titles with Kareem, while Kobe was the clear leader 0 out of 3 times with Shaq.
Not to mention Magic played with a past prime Kareem while Kobe played with a prime Shaq.
How is it comparable? I don't even know. I'll leave it to Kobe stans to come up with dumb arguments like these though.

01 and 02 Kobe has a case if Magic has a case for 84 or 85, because he certainly doesn't have a case for being better than Kareem in 80' despite being Finals Mvp.
Bird is also another guy who played with multiple HoF yet gets Top 5 main stay.

Are you ****ing dumb?
Kareem was the ****ing MVP in 1980, so obviously Magic doesn't have a case for being better than MVP Kareem as a rookie.
Do you even know why he won FMVP? It's because Kareem got injured in the finals, and as Kareem's replacement at Centre, Magic dropped 42/15/7 to seal the deal. That's why he was the Finals MVP, it doesn't take anything away from Kareem for being the best player on the team for the regular season and most of the playoffs.
01 and 02 has a case for what? Certainly not the best player in the league because Shaq averaged 30/15 in both seasons. He doesn't have case for shit.
He had no case for being the best player in the league, he certainly wasn't the best player on his team, and hell you could even argue that he wasn't even the best player in his position (i'll probably get quoted on this out of everything).
Bottom line is:
The best version of Kareem Magic got to play with was a 32 year old past prime (still beastly) Kareem while Kobe got to play with the most dominant version of Shaq.

I had to be a little slow to someone that thinks Magic's situation is even remotely similar to Kobe's situation :confusedshrug:

Curry atm is god mode offensively. 32.3 ppg, 68.8% TS, and 51.7%. 45.8% from 3pt and 90.8% at the line.
Those are hax video game numbers. Insane. Plus, he shoots so quick and it doesn't disrupt the team offense. He gets his points fast. The numbers could go down, but 1/4 in the season, that's freakin' impressive. If he keeps this up, then it'll probably go down as one of the best offensive years the league has ever seen. It might be the best ppg to efficiency ratio the league has ever seen too. We'll see if he can keep it up.
Prime Kobe is better defensively tho.
