if so, what recipe do you favor?
if you haven't, a michelada is something that a mexican buddy introduced me to this past summer. man, what an excellent cool drink for a hot day. right now i'm making them like this:

-light lager (doesn't need to be a mexican lager, just something you like)
-fresh lime juice (or tru-lime powder)
-worcestershire sauce (or soy sauce or maggi seasoning)
-sliced jalape

It's a popular drink in Mexico and my wife loves them but I'm not a big fan, I like my beer straight up or with Clamato for a change of pace.

Op, i have posted many a times on ISH about this.
Anyhow, i prefer my michelidas this way:
Clamato Original
Lemon
Tajin
Salsa Valentin
Beer of choice(modelo is my preference)
You rub the edge of the cup with lime and have the tajin stick to it.
If you want to go all out, coctail de camaron(shrimp) is a couple steps extra but very worth it!

So much work. Just give me a beer, and I'll order a seafood cocktail or some ceviche(sp) if it's on the menu.

no, it's not much work at all.
in my kitchen i can make a quick version for myself in a matter of seconds. if it's for friends, i can do the longer version in a couple minutes.
when you're a bit tired of whatever beer you're drinking, this is a great way to easily change it up. it can be as simple as mixing some spicy V8 mix in to your beer. the point is to experiment. if you don't like experimenting / mixology, this thread is not for you.
