Some people refuse to accept midichlorians, that there was a guy named quigon, a creature named jar jar, that chewbacca knew damn well who yoda was because he was one of the last beings yoda said good bye to prior to exile, that stormtroopers and clones are basically the same thing only clone troopers are actually skilled warriors that can slay jedi with just a simple instruction "order 66" despite the fact that stormtroopers can't shoot the broad side of a barn and get slain by teddy bears throwing rocks. And the list goes on.

Some people just think it's so corny they can't accept it. Where do you guys stand?

It's obviously canon.

Anyone who doesn't accept midichlorians is a f*cking scrub.

They're shitty movies but they're also created by the guy who fvcking invented the Star Wars universe. You don't get any more "canon" than that.

How do you guys feel that despite using the ghost of Alec Guiness and puppet version of Yoda George Lucas decided to use 20 year old Hayden Christian as the ghost of Anakan and digitally erased the original actor

And we're supposed to believe Luke recognizes him - basically a random stranger he's never seen in his life who is younger than himself

It's like George of strong-arming the last resistance against the prequals - forcing them and their characters into the OT

lucas is a hack, see this excerpt from an article:

When Fracture was revealed to the public, its protagonist was a character named Mason Briggs. By the time the game launched, his name was changed to Jet Brody. A person who helped give this gun-toting rebel his original name recalls going through weeks of naming conventions. “Literally, whole teams sitting together, brainstorming what looks good – the first name, the last name, etc. Done, good to go.”

But then a phantom menace struck. George Lucas would periodically check in on the status of the games his company was making, lending creative input and advice. The developer I talked to sighs, and agitatedly says, “In one viewing of Fracture, [Lucas] said it looked really good, but he didn’t like [Mason Briggs’] name. We’re like, ‘What do you mean, George?’ He responded to the effect of, ‘It doesn’t really fit. When he jumps on stuff, he moves pretty fast. I like B.J. Dart.’

“So everybody’s like, ‘No, he’s gotta be f---ing with us.’ He’s absolutely not. So when something like that happened – in the middle of the campaign, mind you – we have to go back through that entire naming convention again… from scratch.” From that second session, Jet Brody was born. Coincidentally. Jett is the name of Lucas’ son.

A similar situation arose with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’s protagonist, Starkiller. “[That name] was only supposed to be a nickname or call sign, not a proper name from the beginning,” a former LucasArts employee says. The development team hoped that Lucas would give Vader’s apprentice a Darth moniker, which at the time, was something that didn’t happen often.

“The team threw a Hail Mary to George, saying the game would have more credibility if the apprentice had a ‘Darth’ title,” a Force Unleashed team member says. Lucas agreed that this situation made sense for Sith royalty, and offered up two Darth titles for the team to choose from. “He threw out ‘Darth Icky’ and ‘Darth Insanius.’ There was a pregnant pause in the room after that. People waiting for George to say ‘just kidding,’ but it never comes, and he just moved on to another point.”

I just watched an interview with Mark Hamil about lightsaber fighting in the old trilogy and you can see this look of disgust come over his face and he says "listen, the fights were different in those movies because Lucas changed his mind"

He said he'd tried to be acrobatic and use one hand and be much quicker with lightsaber fighting in the old trilogy but Lucas stopped him and said what are you doing and told Hamil that lightsabers are extraordinarily heavy like excalibur and you can't wield them quickly or with one hand and that was that.

Hamil said he was pissed that once the prequals come around they were flipping them around like they weigh nothing cause he knew people were then going to wonder why the OT battles were so much slower :lol

Opinions are irrelevant. The pure fact is, no matter how shitty the movies were, they're canon.

“[George] Lucas always made it clear that he was not beholden to the EU [Expanded Universe]. He set the films he created as the canon. This includes the six Star Wars episodes, and the many hours of content he developed and produced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. These stories are the immovable objects of Star Wars history, the characters and events to which all other tales must align.

In order to give maximum creative freedom to the filmmakers and also preserve an element of surprise and discovery for the audience, Star Wars Episodes VII-IX will not tell the same story told in the post-Return of the Jedi Expanded Universe.

Return of the Jedi is also a good movie. Phantom Menace is also very underrated. It had the best lightsaiber fight scenes.
