I am very close to accepting their offer for an MBA starting winter 2016. Would like to chat with some current Schulich undergrad/grad students.

There are probably not many people here from Toronto, let alone going to a top program at York U.
Good luck, though.

So Schulich actually has a good reputation among the Canadian/Ontario/Toronto public?

Didn't go to the school, but all business meetings/seminars I've ever went to approved of them. This was late 00's/early 10's. Have their ratings gone down since ?

I'm thinking of taking my MAcc at Western or Waterloo.
I already have an MBA but I think a MAcc is valuable in the public accounting world.
**** York, it's a good undergrad school; but a horrible graduate school.

I believe so. Schulich and Rotman used to be ranked in the top 20-30s globally but have now both fallen out of the top 50 :confusedshrug:

If you already have an MBA how will taking time off to do a Masters in Accounting give you any additional value?

Accounting Firms value it.
I took a general stream during my MBA studies which didn't give me a chance to specialize in any one particular thing.
Plus out of the 20 credits, I will be exempt for 10 of them.
So I will only do 2 courses a semester (part-time) and graduate in 20 months.
My firm will pay for the courses as well, why not?
Imagine these credentials next to my name homie;
CPA, CA, MBA, MAcc
I'll also be taking the CFA exams, as I am part of the advisory group.

How are the girls in MBA school? I'm told that its not good... How often do MBAs and other grad students smash undergrads, or is that kind of activity frowned upon?

I wouldn't suggest BAcc, MAcc or MBA if you're interested in finding attractive girls. Most are asian, others are ugly and you'll have a very rare beautiful girl in class.
MBA; 60%+ is working class. It's mostly part-timers who already have at least 5 to 8 years of experience (some have 30+ years). I had old men (60+) in some of my classes.
There are attractive girls but aren't many.
There are probably more 30+ year old women than 22-28. In fact, there are.
MAcc is ten times worse.

There are only about 20-30% of students in the MBA program that took it right after their undergrad (I am one of them).

PS - My opinion might be invalid though, as I took a LOT of night classes by choice. So, logically, you should find a lot more part-time students during night classes.
Maybe those stats are completely different during day classes (I took 4 of them). From my experience, there weren't many good (or young) looking girls in those classes either. :confusedshrug:
You take humanity courses if you want some ***** homie.

Im not going to MBA for the girls, but I wouldnt mind some eye-candy to look at or to have some fun with. Having milfs in my classes would be AMAZING. I think I would be the youngest person in my class. I hope that doesnt weigh negatively against me.
And I come from an undergrad with a demographic like this:
50% Chinese dudes
30% Indian dudes
10% foreign aka white dudes
10% girls (all ugly)
I doubt any MBA program can have it much worse than that...
Part time and full time MBA are completely different beasts. Youre 100% correct in saying that part-time caters to an older audience - one that cannot give up 2 years of their life to go back to school.

Nah I did Electrical Engineering
I would say 99% of programs are better than that demographic. I am not even exaggerating. The upper year/grad level courses with a hard reputation were almost exclusively (80%+) asian male. Ive one class where the prof busted out the Chinese to explain a concept to some international students sitting in the front.

Your assessment is inaccurate then.
I'd say out of 400 students, you'll be lucky to have 10 girls.
So therefore it's more like;
2.5% girls
100% of all girls are ugly

Wait, are you planning to enroll into MBA?
If so, for what purpose?
I have never heard or saw an electrical engineer enrolling into the MBA program. Unless you own your own business, or are currently a project manager of some sort.
Did you write about your opinions on immigrants or on the demographics of the dudes form your undergrad in your application?
It would be interesting since at least 50% of their faculty are immigrants.

Electrical Engineering is just the designation conferred upon my degree. Most of my jobs are/were software-related. I'm doing an MBA to raise my potential and possibility of landing an upper-management job in the West. Also, my parents have plans for me to return to our home country and slowly "take over" businesses as my parents' generation grow older and start retiring.
I actually think an Engineering undergrad + MBA is a killer combo, but then again I may be strongly biased.

:oldlol: There's no way in hell he's getting to an Ivy League school with a 2.2, especially into a graduate school.
They usually consider (at the lowest end) students with 75% or higher; if you're between 75-85%, they determine if you need to take GMAT. I got the waiver when I enrolled but my GPA was 4.0!
Even if you have a 75%, they will need to see your work experience, extra curriculum activities, references etc.
Honestly, I doubt you stand a chance with such a low grade point average.
Go to Brock University or Ryerson bruh.

Well it rounds up to 2.3 ok? Ive been offered free applications by a bunch of good US schools too. Duke guaranteed an interview to me as long as I completed my application. I think I had a good shot at Fuqua, which is almost comparable to Ivy League business schools.
I scored a 770 on the GMAT with the top percentile possible in every section (IR/AWA/Overall)
Also, a GMAT waiver is very rare. It would be for highly accomplished old dudes who dont really need an MBA anyways. Business school will always need to see work experience, resume, references, GMAT scores, etc.
And I've already been admitted to Schulich. I'm just trying to explore other options (i.e. top US schools) and the probabilities that they come to fruition.

If you're planning to enroll into graduate school at an Ivy League University like York; I honestly don't see how they'll even consider you.
Only way is if you have strong references and have a solid excuse for your mediocre grades (ex: illness, part-time job etc.). They'll then want to see your GMAT scores (which in your case is great, so that's a good thing), how active you were on campus, your performance at work etc.
I hope I'm wrong but I have never heard of someone getting into a top notch school with such a low GPA.
I know people with much higher GPA's that were rejected from Western and UFT. I'm not sure if York has similar requirements, but why wouldn't they?
They are an ivy league school as well.
Good luck buddy!!!
Hope they make an exception or look at other criteria like your GMAT (which obviously doesn't reflect your piss poor GPA).

In terms of graduate schools; Western is the best in Ontario (maybe in Canada).

I think that McMaster's MBA program has a minimum average of around 75% but they only look at your last two full years of schooling which can help if your GPA has been dragged down by the learning process through year 1 or 2. Not entirely sure about that though, you'd have to check it out for yourself.

U of T > Western = Queens > York
Any random American school > Rotman (U of T) = Schulich (York) = Ivey (Western) = Queens
So it depends upon your friend's program. For everything outside of Business/Marketing, U of T takes a nice steamy dump on York's chest.

Maybe you guys need to stop searching the "indexes" and actually do some research about the Universities "business school."
Just in 2013, Shulich was considered #1 in the ENTIRE country.
