All Los Angeles Unified School District schools were closed Tuesday after LAUSD received a “credible terror threat,” according to school district officials and police.

More details about the threat were expected to be provided during a Tuesday morning news conference.

Officer Kim of the Los Angeles Police Department told KTLA that the threat prompted the decision from LAUSD Superintendent Ramon Cortines to close all schools until further notice.

The district serves about 700,000 students.

The Superintendent pointed out that they get bomb threats all the time, but this one is different. From what I gather, the threats were given for multiple schools and had some specificity even though they are not giving those details yet.

May just be necessary precaution. You don't want to be the guy who had kids blown up because you brushed off a threat.

I remember my middle school had a bunch of bomb threats one Spring. The first time people were freaking out, hyper-ventilating, scared to go back inside after it was cleared. By the 10th one, no one gave a f*ck and thought it was funny.

UPDATE- Whoever made the threat claims that the bombs are in backpacks and other packages. Unless it was a student plot, it'd be hard to actually pull something like that off without someone noticing.

A few weeks ago, a couple of kids in a Virginia school planned to phone in a bomb threat and shoot people as they ran out of their school.
