I don't think he really stands a chance, I saw there was like a 17-18 percent point spread but it will quickly fade. He isn't doing himself a favor in these debates.

Rubio is my favorite but I'd say him, Cruz or Bush, maybe Christie with an outside chance.

It's still amazing how pretentiously the left absolutely LOVES to taunt Christian Americans... but freaks the **** out if anyone raises an eyebrow at Muslims.

It's truly incredible. On this very board we see it all the time. People so desperate to go against the GOP, that they're literally clinging to terrorists and jihadists in mutual support.

Muslims do not give a FUKK about liberal Americans. They fukking hate them. And liberals are so desperate to look like 'the good guys' that they stand up proudly for Muslim radicals and condemn anyone else for daring to be so bigoted as to mock the religion of peace. I don't like these guys dancing around the issue of border control.

Here's what I would say if I was up there...

"You are damn right I want to secure the border. If you're here illegally, YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW. So Cruz gives the number of deportations under Clinton and the number under Bush and then.........just stops?

http://blogs.reuters.com/data-dive/files/2015/02/Deportations022515.jpg

Politifact (http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/aug/10/american-principles-action/has-barack-obama-deported-more-people-any-other-pr/) in 2012.

According to current figures from Immigration and Customs Enforcement -- the federal agency responsible for deportations -- Obama has removed 1.4 million people during his 42 months in office so far. Technically, that's fewer than under George W. Bush, whose cumulative total was 2 million. But Bush’s number covers eight full years, which doesn’t allow an apples-to-apples comparison.

If you instead compare the two presidents’ monthly averages, it works out to 32,886 for Obama and 20,964 for Bush, putting Obama clearly in the lead. Bill Clinton is far behind with 869,676 total and 9,059 per month. All previous occupants of the White House going back to 1892 fell well short of the level of the three most recent presidents.

2007 was the peak

this article (http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/11/19/5-facts-about-illegal-immigration-in-the-u-s/)is from last month.
There were 11.3 million unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. in 2014. The population has remained essentially stable for five years, and currently makes up 3.5% of the nation’s population. The number of unauthorized immigrants peaked in 2007 at 12.2 million, when this group was 4% of the U.S. population.

2. Mexican Unauthorized Immigrant Population Declines Since 2007 PeakMexicans make up about half of all unauthorized immigrants (49%), though their numbers have been declining in recent years. There were 5.6 million Mexican unauthorized immigrants living in the U.S. in 2014, down from 6.4 million in 2009, according to preliminary Pew Research Center estimates.

"Radical islam" is in fact a dumb meaningless phrase. "Jihadism" actually is more appropriate. The big problem though is that it's inconvenient to point out that it's the Saudi's particular brand of Islam that is the problem and role that saudi oil money plays in spreading/funding it.

Do you think Saudi Arabia would put up with America funding churches being built across Saudi Arabia for the purpose of preaching a crusade against the Saudi government, Saudi laws, Saudi culture, etc..? Why do we put up with it?

No, what's incredibly, and in fact, unforgivably stupid, is to be talking of war and bombing without even recognising what our enemy is, which is most certainly Islam, specifically the branch of Islamic Wahhabist ideology that is spread by one of our major allies, and supported by others - you can't fight an enemy if you're busy stubbornly pretending not to know who they are, or its root source.

This is why we have such a clueless policy regarding the middle east, why we have armed fanatics and brought Libya and Syria to ashes out of our own hubris: the clowns in power don't even know who their real enemies are, rather, they're usually entertaining them with expensive dinners or allowing their families to buy up property in our capital cities (gotta plug GDP growth no matter what - oil and blood soaked arabs probs own a hefty portion of the prime real estate in London by now). It's called selling your soul for a few bags of gold, and America is doing it too: inviting a bunch of rich Chinese and South Americans to buy up loads of real estate, making housing completely unaffordable for actual Americans - but, of course, people like you have never given the slightest shit about the wellbeing of their fellow countrymen - you're too busy trying to think well of yourself.

Seriously, what drivel - this foolish opinion of yours (and hers) is the most blatant denial of facts for the sake of either PR or ideological delusion. Suddenly IS is the only problem, and groups like Al-Nusra are filled with cuddly bunnies just trying to throw of the yoke of tyranny? Amirite?

Not to mention that he was warned that the destabilization of Syria would result in spillover into Iraq, and that it would aid the growth of AQI, and possibly facilitate the establishment of a caliphate - these are known facts, proven by government intelligence records, yet they are ignored or denied. Former aids of Obama have come out and publicly said that he ignored the threat of IS (knowingly), played it down, and tried to pretend the spectre of Islamism died with Bin Laden - for electioneering purposes. This is shameless and disgraceful, but nothing can break down the fanatical devotion of Obamites, who will excuse him anything because he doesn't 'hate gays' or some other irrelevancy.

Why can't Obama bummers stand the slightest criticism of their demi-God? It is near universally accepted that Bush ****ed up with his Iraq adventure, but for some reason Dems want to sweep Obama's record in Syria, Libya, and even Ukraine, under the carpet (with the exception of respectable Democrats who are barely Democrats like Jim Webb). The US is still engaged in incessant attempts to overthrow whatever sovereign governments it does not like, whenever it has some geopolitical advantage to score, and then tries to pretend that someone else is responsible when these places descend into chaos. How about just letting that Wilsonian dream die already, and finally admitting that it was another liberal-utopian catastrophe?

This is called ideological blindness, or even madness. When will these people learn their lesson? It's been decades of the same bullshit now.

edit: and with American troops stationed literally all over the world, the notion that we had to withdraw by that self set deadline (by a previous President, no less) as completely as we did, is absurd.

Yeah, i'm sure Obama's hands were completely tied, and he withdrew against his own desires and inclinations

Why do people keep trotting out the false narrative that Obama caused ISIS because he pulled out of Iraq?

We can all agree on the fact that the pull back was agreed upon years in advance by the GWB administration, right? Or are we just going to make up our own facts? They set a deadline of Dec 31, 2011 all the way back in '08.

http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/122074.pdf

Who cares what Bush said. It was Obama's decision to remove troops and look at the turmoil that soon followed. He went against the advice of the people on the ground, just to look like some grand politician that brought the troops back home.

The sad part is, when a Republican takes the White House, they'll eventually put boots on the ground and the deaths of those soldiers will lie solely on Obama's incompetence.

KevinNYC

The government of Iraq wanted the United States to stay in Iraq.

No. They didn't. In the status of forces agreement signed by George Bush in 2008. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDriV-8qUuw) (If you click that link and go to 17:30, you'll find this was one of the more memorable moments of the Iraq war.) The Iraqi government pushed for and got these two items:

......U.S. combat forces would withdraw from Iraqi cities by June 30, 2009,
......All U.S. combat forces will be completely out of Iraq by December 31, 2011.

We pushed for and got
....immunity for US troops unless they committed "grave" and "premeditated" crimes while off duty and outside US bases. And we got to decide who was "off-duty."

Even this 2008 agreement was controversial. The Iraqi parliament only agreed to to ratify it after it was decided a referendum on it would be held in 2009 (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7752580.stm)where the agreement could be voted down and US troop withdrawal moved up to 2010. That referendum was pushed back and then never held.
Sadrists turned out in tens of thousands to protest (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1078747/50-000-Iraqis-march-U-S-security-pact-stigmatise-Iraq-years.html)and burned effigies of Bush

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/10/18/article-1078747-0229D7F3000005DC-532_468x645.jpg

So for our troops to stay beyond 2011. We would have had to RE-negotiate this agreement which was already unpopular in a lot of areas of Iraq. Negotiations started in fall 2010, but reached an impasse over a key US condition: Iraq wanted to remove that protection of immunity for US forces. The Iraqi government would not sign an agreement without it and it's a standard part of out SOFA agreements around the world.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/may/18/jeb-bush/obama-refused-sign-plan-place-leave-10000-troops-i/
http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2014/aug/24/martha-raddatz/obama-wanted-keep-10000-troops-iraq-abcs-raddatz-c/

So it's not accurate to say the Iraqi government wanted us there. They wanted us there but only on their conditions and would not agree to the conditions we needed to stay there. The SOFA agreement would have required the vote of the Iraqi Parliament.

KevinNYC
12-16-2015, 10:49 AM
It was Obama's decision to remove troops.

Nope. As stated above, the SOFA, Bush negotiated did not go pass 2011.

Iraq would not agree to the same conditions of that SOFA because it was domestically unpopular AND Iraqi politicians felt Iraq was stable.

To keep troops there past 2011, the US would have had to give IRAQ jurisdiction of US troops which we were never go to do or violate Iraqi sovereignty and keep US troops there as a occupying force.

To say it was Obama's choice alone is to ignore Iraqi sovereignty. Even critics who felt Obama should have kept troops there DO NOT argue that he should agreed to Iraqi jurisdiction over US troops. They argue he didn't try hard enough to get the Iraqis to make a concessions over this issue.

Another factor that folks who argue this way miss, is that if you look at his subsequent actions Maliki clearly wanted us gone. He basically began a sectarian crackdown after US troops left. EDIT: An arrest warrant was issued for a prominent Sunni politician the day after US troops left.

Factchecks coming in.

I like these

Ted Cruz
In describing his plans as commander-in-chief, Ted Cruz said: “[I would use] overwhelming air power to utterly and completely destroy ISIS.... You would carpet bomb where ISIS is -- not a city, but the location of the troops. You'd use air power. You'd have embedded special forces direct the airpower. But the object isn't to level the city — the object is to kill the ISIS terrorists."
His description of is pretty much the opposite of carpet bombing.

Sen. Ted Cruz said, “The head of the FBI told Congress that we cannot vet these refugees.”
That’s not exactly right. The federal government has developed a significant vetting process for refugees that requires in-person interviews and can take years.

Carly Fiorina:
“One of the things I would immediately do, in addition to defeating [the terrorists] at home, would be to bring back the warrior class – Petraeus, McChrystal, Mattis, Keane, Flynn. Every one was retired early because they told President Obama things he didn’t want to hear.”

Not exactly.

Jack Keane, who served as vice chief of staff of the Army, retired in 2003
David Petraeus....retired from the Army in 2011 when Obama appointed him director of the CIA. (He resigned a year later after news of an extramarital affair and a parallel FBI investigation.)

Stanley McChrystal, then the commander in Afghanistan, was relieved and later retired in 2010 after an unscripted interview for a Rolling Stone magazine profile quoted his aides mocking Vice President Joe Biden.

Chris Christie
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie declared, "When I stand across from King Hussein of Jordan and I say to him, 'You have a friend again, sir, who will stand with you to fight this fight,' he'll change his mind."

Unfortunately, the New Jersey governor's dream meeting is not destined to take place. King Hussein of Jordan has been dead since 1999.

Christie should know. He and his family vacationed in Jordan with King Hussein's son, King Abdullah, three years ago.

So CNN gave Cruz a true but misleading (http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/15/politics/republican-debate-factcheck/)because he's comparing different things. The stats I cited are for removals.

Reality Check: Cruz on deportation records

Demanding tougher enforcement of immigration laws, Sen. Ted Cruz cited the deportation records of previous presidents.

"You enforce the law," Cruz said. "That means you stop the Obama administration's policy of releasing criminal illegal aliens. You know how many illegal aliens Bill Clinton deported? Twelve million. You know how many illegal aliens George W. Bush deported? Ten million."

Those numbers are tricky, since "deportation" isn't an official law enforcement term used by the U.S. government. There are two types of ways that detained undocumented immigrants are forced to leave the country: "removals," which require a court order, and "returns," which occur when immigrants apprehended near the Mexican or Canadian border are told to turn back.

When counting both "removals" and "returns," 12.3 million undocumented immigrants were forced to leave the country under Clinton. The figure for Bush is close to 10 million, according to Homeland Security records.

From the years 2009-2013 -- the years Obama has been in office where data is available -- 3.8 million undocumented immigrants were either "removed" or "returned."

Breaking down those statistics, Obama has relied far more heavily on "removals," and is outpacing any previous commander-in-chief.

Cruz is suggesting in his statement that Obama has been weaker on deportation than his two predecessors -- an assertion that doesn't stand up to figures showing Obama "removing" far more people than Clinton or Bush.

But under his administration, there have been fewer "returns" since there have been fewer Mexicans or Canadians attempting to cross the southern or northern borders.

Verdict: True, but misleading

Yeah, thats the thing with Paul. Hes a libertarian, so he just wants to do what needs to be done without a lot of rhetoric and pandering. Simple and effective.

The traditional republican candidates are trying to do all the macho bravado, and the democrat candidates are trying to do the super sensitive tolerance, and both sides are full of narratives to poke holes in.

Rand just wants America to do what it needs to do without a big production, and keep it movin. But the thing is, most people want to see their party do the big production. Thats who politicians need to appeal to.

You know how limited the internet servers are in NK?? Public don't even get to access it and the few who can have to deal with 56k modem internet junk.. It is not hard to shut down junk like that.

As far as hacking the encryption or Fiorina saying that US government is using wrong algorithm. She has no idea what she is talking about. I am sure with the money ISIS terrorists have, they use high level encryption that cannot be bruteforced (AES-256 is currently the most complex & essentially unhackable). The process these algorithms go through is open to the world. People with high security degrees have been trying everything in the book for years to hack it. because Maliki was sunni biased and we wanted him to include more Shiite representation into his government. So Obama cut him off letting ISIS march thru Iraq killing thousands of innocents, destroying landmarks, taking over Iraqi oil fields and military bases, and stealing the heavy weapons we gave to the Iraqi military. ALL of this is on Obama. He tried to play hard ball to force Maliki's hand and in the end completely fukked us and made ISIS what they are today.

Maliki is a Shiite and has close political ties with Iran.

Maliki was ousted not before ISIS took over the Sunni areas, but BECAUSE ISIS (http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/aug/11/nouri-al-maliki-iraq-forced-out-prime-minister) took over the Sunni areas. It was revealed he was not presiding over a national army. It was strong in the Shiite areas, but weak and corrupt in the Sunni areas. It was Maliki's sectarian crackdown on Sunni's that helped ISIS spread in the north and west of Iraq.

In the end Maliki's own Shiite party turned on him because it was clear he was a failure. The Ayatollah Sistani himself (https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/middle_east/a-letter-from-sistani-turned-the-tide-against-iraqs-leader/2014/08/13/3b3426cf-60ee-4856-ad26-d01a9c6cc9c3_story.html) urged them to do this.
The handwritten letter from Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani was personally signed and stamped, and for Iraq’s embattled Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, it spelled the end.

“I see the need to speed up the selection of a new prime minister who has wide national acceptance,” read the missive, sent to leaders of Maliki’s Dawa party.

During his eight-year stewardship, Maliki had already lost many allies, overseen a collapse in the army and lost control of vast swaths of Iraqi territory. With the country in turmoil, those blunt words from Iraq’s leading Shiite cleric were enough to persuade the Shiite party that had been one of Maliki’s last bastions to change course.Iran turned on Maliki (http://www.wsj.com/articles/iraqi-leader-maliki-loses-backing-of-shiite-figure-and-iran-for-new-term-1406061526)too.
In recent days, high-level delegations of Iranian military officials and diplomats held a flurry of meetings in Baghdad and the Shiite religious capital Najaf, where they were told that Mr. Maliki, a Shiite, has lost the confidence of all but his most loyal inner circle, Iraqi officials with knowledge of the meetings said.

Peshmerga Smeshmerga.

Exactly. You're clearly talking out of your ass. Nevermind that the Peshmerga have been doing some of the heaviest lifting in the war against ISIS and has recaptured territory from them... Let's just nuke them too... just because. :facepalm

You're over complicating sh!t. We're playing a game of whack a mole. The game never stops. Either innocent Iraqis die or innocent Americans die. Take your pick. Rather than whack a mole I prefer blowing up the whole arcade. We could securely communicate to our allies stationed in Iraq and Syria to pull out of Iraq and Syria. You can't see the forest for the trees. Like I said before, keep your own house in order because if your f@cked up house ends up killing Americans, we're burning it down. That's language these animals understand.

ISIS has killed 0.0 American citizens, but we should respond to this nothing by nuking millions of civilians because...

Again, what would that accomplish exactly?

Where would our allies in Iraq and Syria 'pull out' to exactly? Are we taking them in as refugees?

How would the rest of the World, particularly our allies and Russia respond?

Since you've clearly thought this out, shouldn't be too hard to answer. Go ahead.

Not true. ISIS has killed a handful of Americans in Iraq and Syria. The photojournalist, James Foley was the first. He was beheaded.

The San Bernadino killers were, of course, inspired by ISIS at the very least.

*Should've have clarified I meant on U.S. soil/the mainland.

And being 'inspired' by isn't the same thing as being killed by. The guy was a U.S. citizen and Health inspector who killed his longtime co-workers. They may have read some Jihadi propaganda online but overall it was your average American mass shooting. Not really a reason to nuke 2 countries... IMO at least.

You could give Al-Baghdadi a red marker and a map of the U.S. and tell him to circle San Bernadino and he'd look at you like a confused puppy.

Oh wow so now San Bernardino doesn't count as an ISIS killing because the couple wasnt officially sworn into the club or something. Even if you pledge allegiance to ISIS online before you shoot up a building of Christians and then ISIS takes credit for the killing on social media, ISIS didn't do it. You're a secret ISIS sympathizer.
Lucky I can't push that nuclear button or I'd blast
all your best buds over there. We'd save our own people's lives and money, but you pretend that isn't the case. Only concerned about THEM not us. Talking about Pershmergas and sh!t...tough sh!t, collateral damage.

What pisses people off about people like you is you act like this isn't a big deal, you act like we aren't actually at war, you act like our hands are tied as far as what we are and aren't allowed to do during a war. Trump is destroying in the polls mainly because patriotic Americans see that he is outraged by all this nonsense and he isn't going to stand for it. That's why he's gaining votes by the day. Because unlike liberal pus$y democrats, he actually takes this personally, and he isn't going to fight with his hands tied behind his back. That's what I can get behind. 9/11 was a big deal. Paris was a big deal. The attack on our embassy was a big deal. San Bernardino was a big deal. It's time to cut the bullsh!t and blow up the bad guys, and if you think Iraq and Syria aren't harboring the bad guys you're crazier than me.

ISIS never took credit as they didn't carry out the shooting. They thanked their 'supporters'... which is all they were. ISIS fanboys.

Congress declared war? When was this? I know the President has been requesting they do.

I must've missed the vote.

The Geneva Convention is simply a figment of my imagination, I admit it. You got me.

Trump is destroying in the polls mainly because patriotic Americans see that he is outraged by all this nonsense and he isn't going to stand for it.

Trump is leading in the polls because he appeals to the lowest common denominator- all the perpetually scared, ignorant, and easily frightened west bumblef*ck dwellers who couldn't tell the constitution from a menu at Dallas BBQ.

Hillary trounces him in every head to head poll, usually by 10-12 points.

Because unlike liberal pus$y democrats, he actually takes this personally, and he isn't going to fight with his hands tied behind his back.

:lol

You do realize he's running for President and not Dear Leader right? None of his nonsense would ever get past SNL skits if by some bizarre twist he found his hairpiece in the Oval Office.

What you wrote shows your dumbass understanding of how ISIS works. They don't hand out platinum membership cards. They recruit virally. If a Muslim who just showed up in America pledged allegiance to ISIS and then kills a bunch of people, that is an ISIS killing. Just like how you immediately drew the conclusion that because a terror threat was emailed into LAUSD from Germany, it wasn't from a terrorist. Germany has accepted Syrian refugees by the thousands. You didn't get that an IP address can easily be scrambled. Your conception of the world is naive, you don't get how ISIS even works but you try to attack my intelligence. My way saves American lives. Your way saves Pershmergas.

I think I'm gonna start a petition website. NukeISIS.com
You should start your own website: SanBernardinoDoesntCount.com

The Ayatollah Sistani himself (https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/middle_east/a-letter-from-sistani-turned-the-tide-against-iraqs-leader/2014/08/13/3b3426cf-60ee-4856-ad26-d01a9c6cc9c3_story.html) urged them to do this.Iran turned on Maliki (http://www.wsj.com/articles/iraqi-leader-maliki-loses-backing-of-shiite-figure-and-iran-for-new-term-1406061526)too.

everyone on ISH with any brain cells left remembers us talking about ISIS marching their way thru Iraq taking over towns, bases, US equipment, oil fields, etc. and were like 'WTF is Obama doiing?' :biggums:

reinvent it how u want FACT is Obama used ISIS to leverage Maliki and in the end completely fukked everyone.

It is called action and reaction. For every westerner ISIS kills, we bring justice upon them. As we should. What people are saying is to destroy the middle-east.

Here's a better question: if someone comes up and randomly punches you in the face, then you punch him back then proceed to go to his house and punch his entire family, friends, relatives and every person he knows. How is that for equal footing of guilt?

What if they don't know who it is doing the attacking? They know it is somebody from the area, but nobody knows who exactly. (Remember, ISIS followers' identities are not all public as they cover their faces when in front of cameras and eye-witnesses.)

How do you reign somebody in if you do not control their actions? Every person controls their own actions. If my friend Billy Bob is going around scratching up cars, i cannot tie him down to make him stop. All I can do is tell him to stop, and cut friendship with him, but I won't torture him to stop. I will report him to the local authorities, but it is not my job to personally handle him physically.
