View Full Version : Whiteside/Cousins trade

Sketchy rumors have surfaced of an upcoming trade that includes Demarcus Cousins for Hassan Whiteside. As much as we love Whiteside here in Miami, Cousins is a natural fit with what the Heat are trying to do offensively and defensively with his versatility on the perimeter.

Any thoughts on this fictional trade?

Whiteside and Winslow wouldn't do it for Cousins. Go ahead and take Dwight, they'd prob do that for whit side and dragic

He makes a good point. Houston might just take Dragic, and Dwight's expiring so just cut him loose after the season and have a little breathing room.

Shoot, I'd drive Marc Gasol to the airport right now for Whiteside and salary filler. Take him, please.

Nah bro, we don't want him, you can drive him down to the airport and keep him there.

We just had a situation like that with dragic last year. trading away whiteside/winslow is even worse

if dwight wants to play for Miami, it's on him to sell himself to pat riley, not the other way around.

you guys really feel Whiteside can contribute to a contending team???

seems way to selfish a player to accept being part of a great team

Whiteside is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year and Miami/the team that trades for him doesn't even have Bird rights (can't go over the cap to sign him). So his value is REALLY diminished. Essentially there is NO ADVANTAGE to trading for him over just signing him in the offseason.

Selfish indeed. 0.2 assists per game lol. 1 assist in the last 10 games. Watching him operate is even more embarrassing

I don't think he is selfish, more like he just doesn't really know what he is doing yet. Very raw. And that's why he is an exciting prospect.

Whiteside is not selfish at all. He's a team player that plays within the offense. He's not a great passer. If he tries to pass too much he'll be turnover prone.

He's got great hands so when he gets the ball, he just needs to put it up. He's very willing to set picks for his teammates. He's developing well.

You can put it that way, but from what I see, it has been the same last year to now. He ALWAYS look to get his. Double or triple team, he's still hoisting that thing up to the basket. Whether it's lack of skills or just plain selfish, he's simply not looking for other opportunities once he touches the ball in the paint. He's only good for alley oops.

Not at all. He has a soft touch inside and can shoot it a bit. Problem is, he gets swarmed by defenders and has little clue how to deal with that. And thats with an all-pro in Bosh at the 4 to take some attention away.

Whiteside is just like an NBA 2k16 Inside Center. When he gets the ball the shot is going up or its getting stripped from him.

Been saying this all season. As soon as he touches the ball it's effectively the end of the possession, one way or another. He might be the worst passing big man I've ever seen at the NBA level. That's one of the main reasons the Heat's offense struggles when he's on the court.

Yeah...because he has the ball all the time in his hands. Don't talk about things you have no idea about. You can't make plays when you are primarily used as a finisher. The team doesn't want him making plays.
