At least Rudy Gay is good in fantasy :oldlol:

Because Gay gives you 3s, boards, steals blocks, unlike Wiggins. Well Wiggins isn't bad at blocks for a wing, I'll give him that one.

Wings can take a while to adjust, it's hard finding out which is the best position to play and how they want to play. Look at PG and Gay's development, once they find their role, they are huge game changers.

People are just overrating him when comparing him to all-time greats. I still think he can be a good player, but not as good as some want him to be.

TheMilkyBarKid
12-17-2015, 07:52 AM
He may not have the playmaking abilities of a lebron or a kobe, but he can defend pretty damn well for a young fella.

OP is right though.

Wiggins is 6-8 with great athleticism and playing 35mpg, yet he only averages 3.6rpg. That is Bargnani level terrible.

And 1.6 apg with 43%FG and 26% on 3s are not exactly great either. Wiggins can score, but he's not good at anything else, and he's quite inefficient so far.

He's only 20 so plenty of time to improve, but so far he doesn't look like a superstar in the making.

He plays pretty good man defense too, but you'd have to watch games and not box scores to know that.

J's only get better with age. Worst case scenario he's Rudy Gay.

RRR3
12-17-2015, 01:12 PM
I'm aware of his age and defensive reputation, I just expected more. I watched some Wolves Knicks yesterday, and was completely unimpressed by Wiggins (one game I know, but he hasn't been that great when I've seen him. Saw him posterize Gobert though). Towns is their future IMO, dude is a monster. Such a smooth shot, and he can score in the post pretty damn well from what I've seen. Highly skilled player, and he has a good motor.

BigTicket

His defensive reputation is all hype. If you look at the actual numbers, it is clear that while can occasionally play decent man to man defense, his overall defensive impact is really bad.

Among all the SGs in the league, Wiggins has the 2nd worst DRPM.

Indeed this.

KAT on the other hand is the real deal on defense.

RRR3
12-17-2015, 01:26 PM
I like KAT a lot. He seems like an awesome dude, and he is looking like a future superstar. The fact that he can post up, shoot midrange and 3s, and you can't hack him will make him deadly.

It all comes back to his aloof attitude, questionable motor and lack of feel for the game. Sure, given his natural talents, he can lock people down on occasion but being a great defender is much more than that. A lot of it is just awareness and discipline, which he doesn't seem to have yet.

He can score because he has a decent shot, a nice step back jumper, can drive and also some good spin moves but he should be more impactful on other parts of his game. His rebounding numbers are terrible.

But he's still so young and has time to correct these issues.

I'm not saying Wiggins will be durant but the guy is 20 years old who has improved since last year is one of the best post up guards in the nba so I only see him improving his all around game

Quite possibly. Always a chance this thread will be bumped in a few years when Wiggins is averaging 25/7/5 and everyone laughs at how dumb I was :oldlol:

Dave3
12-17-2015, 05:27 PM
Way too early to be hating on the guy. I feel like I'm also in a rush when I watch him, expecting 25/5/5 already, but realistically he's going to be a 27/6/3 at best it seems, and he's 20 right now. Not everyone is LeBron putting up 27/7/7 before they can legally drink. Just from his demeanor though I do think he'll work to be an all around player, but obviously he has quite a few holes in his game.

KAT on the other hand, seems like an invincible player. Guy looks like he has no weaknesses already. He's going to be AD level special from what I've seen so far.

Durant in his 2nd year was averaging 25/7/3 with good shooting numbers, which is vastly superior to Wiggins.

It's not that Wiggins is bad, in fact he's very good for a 20 year old. The problem is that people insist on comparing him to legends, and he hasn't come close to earning that.

Rounding up in the same way you've done for those durant stats, wiggins in his second year is only 4 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist behind those numbers. Nick Collison was also the leading rebounder on that OKC team and Earl Watson was their leading assist man so it's no surprise Wiggins would have lower rebounds and assists on a team that has multiple good rebounders and a play maker like rubio. The worry comparing numbers you should have mentioned is wiggins lower %s while having more created for him.

Hardly "vastly superior". Durant also averaged 5 minutes more a game. Shot at better percentages though and gave you steals as well.

Durant was the better player but don't try and act like Wiggins numbers aren't very solid for a 20 year old kid.

Will he improve his game more? Maybe, hopefully. But you can't rule him as "only a scorer" when he's 20 years old in his second season and still putting up decent numbers.

He is only 20 years old and was supposed to enter the league as a raw project. The reason he doesn't get assists is because of his dribbling, he can't really dribble meaning that he cannot set up players for a direct assist. It is going to be scary when he does develop a steady dribble in the NBA. Right now with no dribble he is averaging over 21 points as a raw 20 year old.

Wiggins does not stay pad rebounds as he gives up the rebounds to his team mates. He doesn't look to collect the defensive rebound as he is not the one who dribbles up court. This will change as he gets a better and more confident dribble. He had the ability to rebound but doesn't impose his will on rebounding.

Wiggins is going to be good, but he's not showing the all-around game I expected. Will try to watch him closely while I'm visiting Minneapolis, hope he shows something.

Well, he did get a double double the other day, so he had me willing to eat crow momentarily. He's clearly gonna be a damn good scorer, but based on his hype, I was expecting more than just a really good scorer.

Wiggins is projected to be a good scorer and defender. But the type of defense he plays do not show up in the stats, he doesn't like to gamble and always stays ahead of his man.

Pushxx
12-22-2015, 03:13 AM
He's a rich man's Jeff Green or a modified Rudy Gay.

If he figures out how to dominate a team defense he will be an incredible player. His offense will come along regardless.
