Shaqattack was a Dwight fan but i don't think he posts here any more.
as far as howard, seems like he burns his bridges with all his fan bases (orlando, lakers, now rockets fans?)

There are reporters who *** at the sounds of his name, and the people who think Morey is god so who will love Howard for the next 2 weeks until he's gone.
But otherwise, no i don't think anyone.

I had a howard jersey in his earlier orlando days. Wouldn't really say I was a big fan of his though as I always liked other guys on the team more than him like jameer, redick, anderson, turk. Dwight got the team wins and was the best big man in the league but the style of offence we ran to facilitate that wasn't the most exciting to watch, we didn't have that free flowing running game and didn't see much exciting drives or anything like that. Once he started throwing people under the bus and carrying on though I started hated him. I remember even in his orlando prime there were threads here asking if any howardstans exist and even then I don't recall any one saying he was their favourite player even amongst the orlando fans. He was always corny back then but he wasn't as obnoxious and he was winning games for the team.

I am in awe of his freakish athleticism. He's also got the largest shoulders of any NBA player. The guy is probably the most physically gifted 6'11" or taller big ever. Just freakish explosion. So in that regard, I am a fan. You can't teach what he has.

Dwight's probably a fourth tier center all-time. Bit overrated, although great in his generation.

He and CP3 have NO fans.
I can't think of anybody on here who is a fan of Dwight. I've even seen Rockets fans who don't like him.

What's so funny? There are different types of athleticism. Hakeem was the most fluid. Shaq the best combo of size/power/quickness. But in terms of just sheer explosion off the floor, it was Dwight.

I think it's the opposite. He gets underrated. If you look at his impact on the D end, his rebounding and average offensive production, he was a very impactful player at his peak. Took down Bron's Cavs and went to the finals. 4 time DPOY.

Maybe right now when it's the cool thing to hate on the guy. A retrospective of his career will probably hold him as an all-time great center (based on what I remember people saying about him in Orlando), because he was the best center of his generation. In reality he's no where near Russell/Wilt/KAJ level. Not Shaq/Hakeem/Moses. And not Drob/Walton/Ewing/Mikan/Cowens, imo either.
He's going to benefit a lot from playing in an era where there weren't many good centers, and the ones that were good or had potential ended up getting injured.

Used to be a very good player, now he's just good but in his prime he was fun to watch. He was always an annoying douche.

any day of the week over dwight. you add fluidity and quickness and it's a wrap.
furthermore dwight is closer to 6'9 than to 6'11..

Dwight is an underrated playoff performer.
His 2009 run was terrific, he was solid in 2010, he had big series against the Hawks in 2011 and Blazers in 2014. I thought he played well last season against the Mavs and Clippers.
He's one of the best defenders and rebounders the league has ever seen and at his peak he was a solid offensive player too. It's cool to sh!t on him now but he was a great player.

Dwight's become hugely under rated based on how much of a douche he's been off the court. People forget how dominant he was during his peak. Teams were scared to go in to the paint and he was double teamed all the time. He was a beast.
At the same time there is a danger of him being over rated all time due to the era he played in. Even in his peak most people acknowledged he benefited from playing in a weak big man era. Can't really hold that against him but yeah hard to rank him against other elite bigs from other eras because of that. I personally think if he played in a tougher big man era he would still be considered a top player but he wouldn't be an offensive focal point and so wouldn't be in that elite category on anything but defence.
People shit on him today in Houston but if you actually watch him and look at what he's doing he's still one of the better bigs in the league right now. Not dominant and no one you would want to build around but he's still in the better group of all round big men and he still has a presence a lot of the others lack.

I still think you're selling him short. Sure, he was a tier below the true great bigs of the game. But his best 5 year stretch (2008 - 2012):
20.6 PPG, 13.9 RPG, 2.5 BPG, 24.5 PER
Is pretty impressive. And for his career, he's putting up:
18.0 PPG, 12.7 RPG, 2.1 BPG, 21.9 PER
This isn't DeAndre Jordan who has ZERO offensive game. Howard had an average post up game at his peak and could give you consistent offense. And his D and rim protection is up there in terms of all-time level.
The guy won 3 DPOY and 5 rebounding titles. He was "the man" for a team that made the finals. That's a pretty impressive resume.

Did you even watch him in his prime? Wilt, Shaq, Mourning and DRob more explosive off the floor than Howard? Yeah, ok. Like I said, I said in terms of sheer explosion off the floor, not overall athleticism or fluidity or any other criteria. Howard was a freak.

Yup.
Career playoff average:

Agreed. I mean Howard's 2009 playoff numbers are unacceptable:
20.3 PPG, 15.3 RPG, 2.6 BPG, .601 FG%, 25.5 PER

He 100% deserved the MVP over Rose in 2011. His career arc would have been so much different if he got that award.
To me his personality screams that he needs constant validation, and this has made his relationships with franchises and fanbases toxic.
The media trolled him over the years because they knew it got to him. They really did a number on him.

There are a couple fans, but no one was overly fanatical about him like we're seeing with Kobe, Jordan, Lebron, Curry, etc.
