The 3D effects are NOT amazing or anything. But, there are a lot of camera angles throughout the movie where the 3D really makes you feel like you're right near the characters.

After I saw the whole thing in 3d, I went into the next showing and re-saw the final 30 minutes but in 2D. And the 3D was way better

yeah, same reaction here... then i slapped my forehead, spoke the words ISH gonna ISH, then went to WP to read the proper plot summary. in the end it's not that bad since i'll be seeing the movie for the craft, not for the plot.



@3D jeff,
3D has always turned out to be mostly an annoying distraction for me, maybe because i already have imagination. my doctor says it's a muscle that got built from watching a bunch of old B&W classics.

too many cheap elements and cheap thrills aimed to do nothing other than to grab cheers. maybe doing it a few times are ok but every scene was filled with a massive dosage of nostalgia from the past. many didnt flow nor work naturally. they just crammed too many things in that had little to do with anything other than to please the audience. abrams did it excessively.

but it really doesn't accomplish anything. Someone is going to do it every time a major movie comes out no matter what. You can ban them forever someone different just going to do it the next time.
