View Full Version : You get $500 million, but....

....you have to live within a 5 mile radius for the rest of your life. You can choose the "epicenter" of your 5 mile radius, anywhere in the world, but once you choose it, you're stuck there for good. You have a tamper-proof gps microchip and cyanide capsule implanted in you, if you leave the radius it goes off. You can spend your $500 million in any way you see fit.

1. Do you take the deal?
2. If so, where do you live?

I'd take it. I'd pick somewhere in Montana.

Get me a nice big log cabin, some fiber optic internet, and as much weed as I could ever smoke in my lifetime.

And play xbox all day. I can fly the people in I want to see.

Actually. To think of it, what's $500 million going to do without freedom. The idea of money is to travel. More than what people think. Although I could have any girl I'd want, considering only tourists goes there I'd see fresh new woman daily. But being restricted to one location sounds so unhealthy.

Perhaps being restricted to one state??

i dont think i would take that deal. if i were to, it would be because to give my family most of the money and they can be free and rich and i would be rich aswell with a fraction of the freedom.

5 Mile radius? What's that in NYC blocks? 100 blocks in each direction? I could do it... build me a nice swimming pool and plenty of bball courts. Hospitals + every kind of food I can imagine. It would suck not being able to visit anyone, try explaining that to your relatives!

When you say it like that it sounds good. But it's like being locked up man, sure you'd have all the girls and shit. Any car you want to drive around in that restriction zone. But it's like you're an animal.

I think the selfish thought for me would be woman and power.

Who wouldn't take two ***** in their ass for 500 million? Otherwise you spend most of your life with ***** up your ass just for the dream of retiring when you're 65. Don't office chairs have ***** implanted right on the seat? Every time you sit down at 9 oclock you have that dick in you until 5 or 6. Is two live ***** thrusting and cumming inside of you for 10 minutes really worse than a sustained dick inside of you for your whole life?

Then you're more moral than you are anything else. Therefore money and materialistic, man made objects aren't the apple of your eye.

Happiness, true happiness and true love versus materialistic and power through wealth. You do face this in every day life. Even with a salary that's average people go into fields that give them position of power and authority.

At first I thought the proper way to do this would be in Manhattan but I think the lack of beaches would really depress me after a while.

What I would do is buy a private island with similar dimensions and start my own utopian society over there, 500 mil should be a good amount to jump kick that. Offer good work over there, all organic foods, bring in the best chefs that would be willing to live in paradise and call it a day. At the very least, this big project would keep you interested and motivated whereas 5 miles anywhere else would become a big bore eventually.

The scary part is if the project fails, and you blow your money and everyone leaves, you literally become a prisoner on a deserted island.

I thought I was gonna say fukk no, but then this part seeped into my mind and I realized I'd ultimately take it and then become progressively more miserable as the years passed. I'm not a travel person at all yet I still want no part of this.

The only way this wouldn't suck is confinement to one country. That would suck for some, but it's doable unless you have relatives in other countries. Anything smaller than that would be really ****ing annoying.

This is why I absolutely take the deal.

I would take $50 million( after taxes) if I can negotiate 25 miles actually instead of 5.

25 mile radius in a Los Angeles beach community with a home on a dozen acres or so .

My little ranch with 15 -20 (or more ) acres would be near the beach, City & I can entertain myself & others as I please on my little 'ranch' ( Dune buggy,ATVs, Horse back riding, pond, etc.) & man cave .

$500 million & 5 miles I guess I take a Brownstone in Manhattan.

Well...I live in cali and have a med card...and they deliver. If that wasn't possible I would just grow...with 500 million dollars you can have a nice setup and if you don't want to bother with it yourself...you could pay someone to come take care of your plants.

Fcking easy answer. Yes. No second thoughts. All I needed was a second to say yes.

1) Emergence of technology enables me to do online shopping and have the vendors ship over my stuff
2) If 1 isn't viable, then if you're smart enough, you live near your family member and have them do all the errands for you outside the 5 mile radius
3) All I need is internet, computers, and games. Done.
4) As long as you're close to a couple of big ass department stores within a 5 mile radius, you can get most of your non online shopping done there. To top that off, I basically do this already, so this is no sweat.
5) I hate traveling anyways

Live in the same area as long as others don't know how rich I am.

No, the scary part is when the utopian society falls apart and someone wants to kill you. How long can you stay hidden in a 5 mile radius?

KevinNYC

To get the stuff I wanted in NYC, I had to use a nine mile radius, if you gave me these 9 miles and 500 million, I would easily say yes.

This tool lets you create your radius to post.

https://www.freemaptools.com/radius-around-point.htm?clat=40.67054829587018&clng=-73.9553689956665&r=14.48409600553223&lc=FFFFFF&lw=1&fc=00FF00

Getting to 9 miles was easier when I realized I didn't have to live in the center of the circle.

This gets me from the top of Central Park to Rockaway Beach. I think I would get myself several places to live or just move fairly often.

If I had a tiny area to live in Bleeker and Carmine wouldn't be too bad. (https://www.google.com/maps/place/233+Bleecker+St/@40.7305315,-74.0025971,3a,90y,73.45h,63.88t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1slbrR2IGtMS2pm8o_zVPZyQ!2e0!7i1 3312!8i6656!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x23659d0548a75bbb!6m1!1 e1)

It has an amazing gelato place,

a great bakery

which is just one store away from an amazing cheese place and an amazing old school Italian pork store. And we haven't even walked 300 feet yet.
http://www.homerestaurantnyc.com/image/west-village-page.jpg

Oh yeah, there's another pizza place down the street that has been called "life changing" that I forgot about until I looked at the map because I think it's over-rated.

To work that off, the West 4th Ball courts are nearby
http://static1.demotix.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/a_scale_large/1200-2/photos/1339870374-west-4th-street-basketball-tournament-starts-in-new-york-city_1280852.jpg

and IFC theater is in the back of that shot and nearby is the Film Forum revival house. They got a Coen Brothers festival coming up next month. I'd find stuff to do.

500 mill is reallyyyyyyyyyyy ****ing nice BUT if I only had a 5 mile radius, I'd feel like im in prison.

-I wouldn't be able to go on a yacht, or a plane ever again.
-My friends and family would have to come see me. Like I wouldn't even be able to visit them in a super luxurious car or anything

And besides, the only things I'd be able to buy are nice cars (if I was living close to a car dealership), clothes, unlimited amount of food, and anything on amazon/ebay. I'd miss out on so many other things. I'd have a better life making $100,000 yearly. I'd still be able to afford lots of food, get a pretty nice car, buy good looking clothes, I'd be able to travel, and visit friends/family. Money isn't everything anyway.

The more I think about this, the worse it sounds. :confusedshrug:

I've almost come around to being an automatic no. In terms of actual life enjoyment, you're lucky to be as happy as a slightly-above average middle class dude. Total confinement and that'll wear on anyone, even someone who doesn't travel much.

It'll bog you down, you can probably never have a family because you'll always know that having a kid with that sort of situation can't be healthy for him. I'm not sure there's a dollar amount that can be put on something like this for me. At least prison isn't disguised as being something good like this is.

I'd take multiple ***** up the ass daily for a month before jumping on this offer. 4 ***** for 4 weeks for 4 million is a much better offer than this.
