"For awhile now I've been searching for motivation to better myself in anyway possible. Along with that I've always wanted to help people in someway, it's why I'm trying to become a firefighter. Lately, I've had this idea in my head about how I can help others by getting stronger. At first I only equated it to the day dreams of saving peoples lives as a fireman one day... But while at the gym I was reminded of an idea I had months ago while noticing everyone checking out their physique, looking at the progress, seeing what they need to work on... I thought to myself "I wonder how people people think these hard working men, and women are just self obsessed". While some inevitably are going to be that way I like to think most people are good, and they're just hyper focused on bettering themselves. Now, I'd like to take that focus, and aim it at the many struggles people have to face in this world. Something I can can easily relate to. When I started lifting late November last year I had no posterior chain, and saying I had chicken legs is an understatement. But, I started working out with a passion that I never had before. I ended up falling in love with the dead lift. Every time I grabbed hold I was envisioning lifting the burden off my moms shoulders. While we can't say what's wrong exactly, a doctor a long time ago said he thinks she has schizophrenia. She's gone untreated, refuses help, and suffers daily. While using that as motivation I got my deadlift to about 350 in 4 months at 175.
While I may have lost a lot of my gains since then with life, and work getting in the way... I'd like to get back on the horse, bring others along, and never stop with a community behind us. My hopes are to get a group of novice, or intermediate lifters to represent a charity of their choosing. We'll set goals for ourselves, and as we pass those milestones money will be donated. And if possible be under the guidance of known respected power lifters, as this needs to be done right. While this idea is still in it's infancy, I can't help but share it now as I want those who need help to be able to get it. Lets grow this as a community, be healthy as individuals, and help those in need. No matter what the cause is"
