I know all players who have won MVP has made it so far, but Rose has been terrible the last two years and show no signs of turning it around.

Walton had lost years due to injuries as well, but at least when he came back he was still a solid/above average player, Rose isn't even that at the moment.

no player has ever been a lock to be in the hall of fame playing only 4 full seasons. in my opinion, yes he will but that is based on what he will do in the future.

Still a question mark, he has to contribute more and stay out of injuries. He also won MVP only because at that point everyone was bored of LeBron getting it.

Not even close if he continues to play like a poor man's Javaris Crittenton

A better question might be will Reggie Theus make the Hall?

they might throw him in there, but only because he was the only player to win an MVP despite mental retardation. :applause:

If he kept his MVP level play throughout his career than yes. But no he won't since I highly doubt he will get back to that form.

At least they gave Mario Chalmers .0011. I don't think they gave Rose even that...

I don't think that he's a Hall of Fame player. He wouldn't make it in any other sport, the basketball HoF's weakness is his only hope.

Also, he's not on the Hall of Fame probability list because you need a minimum of 400 games played.

Are you foreseeing an OJ situation?

I can see him in HOF, but not based on anything after 2011

He has been a professional NBA player for 8 years. Just because he sits out half the time doesn't mean he gets bonus points.

He is now a 20.2 ppg on .521TS% player for his career.

The list of players with those credentials is ENORMOUS. .521TS% is BELOW league avg.

He still looks like he can go. But he doesn't go all the way to the rim anymore. His cowardice is his undoing. Stop pulling up for awkward 10 ft floaters you shoot at horrible %s and go to the basket. There is still hope. Its just fading. Fast.

I heard they asked him if he still gambles and he said yes. As Chrome said its not going to happen while he's alive at this point - or while he can cuss them after it's done. They want him to repent on their terms and Rose doesn't do anything on somebody else's term.

Thing is his injuries coincided with the years of the Olympics, too. So he has no Gold Medals. His team choked at unseen levels in the NC in college. So no championship there either. Then look at his decline (let's assume he doesn't ever bounce back to ~allstar or even good starting levels).

Don't think so.

Would be interesting if he were on the 2012 Olympics team and had his team not choked in college. All things stay the same.

Yup, during his talk with Manfred he said that he still gambles on baseball. :lol

Yeah he might have been terrible post-injury but he had one MVP season and that's all that matters imo. I don't think there's a former MVP who have not or will not make it to the HOF.

Longevity matters. He will need to accumulate some career stat totals for him to be in consideration.

He isn't a guy like Bill Walton who was one of the greatest college players ever and had an impressive NCAA resume.

Rose needs career totals.

Rose's situation is interesting because it's basically unprecedented. He might sneak in due to the MVP, but realistically I think he'll be the first MVP winner to not be inducted. Part of the problem is his MVP season was underwhelming. If he had been historically dominant it would be harder to ignore, but Rose was pretty pedestrian compared to a lot MVP winners. If he was able to play in the 2012 olympics or if his Memphis team had won the NCAA title game, he'd probably get in. It takes a perfect storm of circumstances for an MVP winner not to make the HOF, and unfortunately for Rose that might be exactly what has happened.

Lets not forget the record that year was vacated because of him. Even if it was somewhat questionably and iffy, those wins were lost because of him and him alone in the mind of the NCAA. That's a pretty compelling argument for the hall voters to go against him.

I actually had forgot about that so thanks for the correction. That indeed further hurts his HOF chances.

MLB just released some statement talking about how they don't think Pete Rose appreciates what he has done, yadda yadda yadda. Pretty much saying he isn't getting in anytime soon. I think they should let him pretty soon. If they don't let him in before he dies it would be a shame.

Last year he was a marginally below average starter but a starter level point guard. This year he is playing like a guy outside of the rotation or a D league player. He has less than 400 games played.

So either A, you think he's already in or B you think he's going to snap out of this and play himself in.

Has anyone made the hall with under 400 games played and only 3 all star appearances add in no major titles? How much should the MVP make up that gap?

BigTicket

I hope not, he doesn't deserve to make it, only had 1.5 good years.

rose's case is unusual. He won the mvp in his 3rd year and only had 2 years at most when he was considered a top five player.

There is no MVP in the history of the nba that has a track record as weak as rose's
