I got my kids those cheap kindle fires from amazon? Any thoughts on good apps that can play our downloaded movies and books? They push you away from all that stuff on the store, it's a pain.

Is it the Fire operating system? Try MX Player for videos and for the reading books... prob try the Kindle app :oldlol:

I got a 7 inch Kindle Fire HD tablet a few years ago. NBA League Pass was too choppy on it to tolerate. I immediately returned it and got a 7 inch Kindle Fire HDX, and League Pass runs flawlessly on it.

I find watching league pass on a small 7 inch tablet is a thousand times better than on even the biggest phones.

That's basically all I got it for.

Kindle is so closed, nazi system. SO for the books ill try something else.

Jameer, i don't really want to jailbreak it, cant really put in that much effort. Note the amount of time i spend on ISH, that's because i have no time. It's a good suggestion though thanks...

Essentially my kids use it during travel to watch movies, read books, and play basic games (educational and bad piggies...). It serves its purpose.

Anything beyond Kindle Paper white is a waste of money.

Shit, then that's fine. They don't need anything special or some killer performer.
Nope. It's actually a nice tablet for the $34.99 i paid. the screen is very clear and it's very solid. it also transfers data back and forth quickly and easily. The android tablet they had before that this is replacing was a struggle to do anything with. This has to have a much better OS.

would be fine for kids unless the school they are going to runs an ipad program and you then need to buy something else. guessing you'd already know that though.

For reading, try out moon like everyone said or Aldiko. You can use epubs, pdfs, and mobi format for books

There's comic readers as well, I think Perfect Viewer was pretty good. I dunno about Manga, I'm sure there are good ones for that too.

i bought my wife the kindle hdx maybe 2 years ago and the thing surprisingly has been great. No issues.

She uses it for everything and does all her reading on it. She uses some app i think called Overdrive for her reading because its designed to work with our public library app.

I asked because teenagers would want more than some Amazon branded tablet. They are more picky and want what's in like an iPad, Windows, or Google tablet.
