oh the horror

So ISH, Christmas is almost upon us as we are entering the final week.
I've finished shopping awhile ago, and am now preparing for a Christmas Eve shindig with family and friends where we grub on just some finger foods and drink booze, music, Xmas movies and things of that nature.
anyway thought I'd share a little Christmas Eve story with everyone that happened a very long time ago. I must have been around 7 or so and it was getting late on the eve and as it went my mother was waiting for me to fall asleep as a parent does before she would proceed to wrap presents to put them under the tree as if Santa arrived in the middle of the night.
Anyway I remember at the time we were out of milk so, not wanting to keep Santa without some type of liquid I opted to leave him cookies and water because he HAD to wash the cookies down with something. I imagine Christmas Eve duties may leave one quite dehydrated.
Now mind gents, at this time we had a marble top table that when one puts down a glass makes a distinct noise of glass to marble.
Soooooo, time goes on and she wants me to sleep with her (which is revealed as I'm older because she can keep tabs on exactly when I pass out so she can go do what she has to do) and I'm so excited of course that I can't sleep. I'm laying in bed awake for about what feels to be an hour and some point in the quiet I hear a distinct *clink* as if someone is trying to set down the glass onto the marble but quietly. I'm excited as **** at this point because Santa is there right? My mother always told me later she was terrified because she figured we had an intruder lol - but at that moment I whisper to my mother if she heard it and she replies whispering back yes. We have NO IDEA WTF we heard. But we bounce out of bed and run to the living room.
I'm thinking that if the water had been touched and the cookie eaten I would have lost my mind but nothing had been touched. To this day I can't explain this event. Now, interestingly enough my mother has a continuation of the story from her perspective after I had gone to sleep finally. She was awake wrapping presents and she explains that she literally heard footsteps on the roof. Now mind you we were on the second floor of a two floor apartment building and to get on the roof would be a hell of a feat the way this building was designed. She explains to people when we tell the story that if she would have heard bells jingling that she would have, and I quote "shit herself".
And that's my more memorable Christmas story.
So ISH what are your Christmas plans? Any good gifting going on? Favorite Christmas movies?
