Could you imagine if the Bulls won the title that year?

Hakeem Olajuwon was the real DPOY that season.

And this guy was getting knocked out in the first and second round of the playoffs for most of that decade. Put that same team with Oakley in the East of the last 15 years and their 60+ win team and a Finals birth easy (Remember the 2007 Cavs)

Those dudes from the 80's were just VICIOUS, they would dunk over their own mothers to score two points. The only modern player that could fit into that era is Russell Westbrook, not on talent, but on ATTITUDE!

That video shows the rare combination of strength, skill, jumping ability and HAND SIZE that separates Michael from all the pretenders that came after (Kobe, Vince, McGrady, Hill, LeBron)

Watch how he could CARRY defenders towards the basket, the size and strength he had in his hands is probably only matched in the history of the game by Dr J and Connie Hawkins. One he has airborne it was over. Only the Bad Boy Pistons had the "cojones" to slam his as! to the ground and make him earn it.

I sincerely believe Michael would average 40ppg in today's soft NBA where he didn't have to worry about getting body checked every time he drove to the hole and going up against soft zone defenses that are much easier to crack than what he shredded in college!

And 27.5 pts , 4.5 ast, %55 TS with good defence(not even close to dpoy caliber defence ) against Pistons .

Magic was definitely best at that season .

Hakeem Olajuwon was the real DPOY that season. He probably deserved it over MJ but the GOAT had a spectacular defensive season in his own right. 200+ steals/100+ blocks and had the Bulls as the 3rd best defense.

Hakeem should've won in 1990 if anything. He deserved it over Rodman.

How the hell do you average 35 a game and win MVP and DPOY in the same season? I can't wrap my head around this.

If he were on the Pistons there would have been no way he would have had a season like that as their offense would not have allowed a player to lead the league in scoring.

very nice highlights

i always said jordan's prime was from 1988-1996 (97 & 98 were just the proverbial cherry-on-top seasons).

keeping it real, arguably the GOAT scorer right there :applause:

NOBODY does mid air improv like jordan. not even close. just think about all the *hit it takes to do what jordan does.

first you gotta have the quickness to get by the defenders.

then you gotta have the jumping ability and hang time.

you gotta have the reaction time and reflexes to process what the defenders are doing and make the correct adjustments in a fraction of a second.

you gotta have the skill and touch to lay it up and in after making all the quick adjustments.

you gotta have a keen awareness of where the basket is since he wasnt always looking at the basket.

you gotta have the drive and fearlessness to go in there among the trees.

and you gotta have the motor to keep doing it consistently.

ive seen alot of players have one or two or three of those, but only jordan has them all.

Arguing over throw ins and dunks makes me appreciate some of MJ's dunks even more.

He took off farther than on some of these throw ins and got hit harder yet still dunked it.

Height+distance+strength+hang time
