Lin tripped on Harden's leg.

Just like Chris Paul tripped on Curry's foot on that behind the back crossover? The handles to get him off balance is what led to him falling on his ass.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDgA1k6WYMgRight on. That's a legit means of wobbling an opponent.

I think we may have gotten a little too loose with the "ankle breaker" thing. It's tough to tell without a replay, but it really does look like Harden pushed off on Lin and may have clipped Lin's right foot as well. Not saying it was a foul or anything, but also doesn't feel or look like a legitimate ankle breaker.

It's kind of like how Andre Drummond somehow went semi-viral for "breaking Chris Paul's ankles" when really he just stepped on Paul's foot before chucking a layup off the backboard (http://detroitsportsnation.com/detroit-nba/rake2204/no-andre-drummond-didnt-break-chris-pauls-ankles/55596/).

The real spirit of an ankle breaker, in my opinion, is wobbling an opponent through a series of confusing and well-executed moves, not by tripping, pushing, having a guy get locked up in a screen, or getting him a little off balance before pushing him over.

That said, I'm not sure where I stand on ankle breakers where a defender is anticipating fighting over a screen.

Not really. Dude (intentionally or accidentally) sticks his leg out deep to trip Lin or at least block his movement. Had really nothing to do with Harden's cross.

The handles didn't get him off balance. The shoulder into his chest did. Offensive foul, clear as day.
