Lately I've been thinking of getting a pool table.
As a kid I played a lot in bars when my pa took me their as well as the bowling alley.
Later I hit pool halls in Chicago when I was there for a few years.
Moving back to Wisconsin, I saw an expedition with the late great Willie Mosconi.
From that point on I truly had someone to compare all else to.
"He was utterly amazing"

Lately I have been watching on youtube the great Efren Reyes.
I can say he was ever 1 step above Minny Fats or Wille M. , but a few nights ago I saw a rerun of 9 ball , first to win 120 games wins a $100,000.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GgEfN4HsEs
The above vid is part 5 (1-4 is available on youtube as well)
Earl Strickland is need less to say no slouch.

Vid picked up when he was down around 20 games , came back and after playing for about 11 hours won the championship 120-117 games.

You get some real respect for a player that does that.

So who's the greatest you've seen or think is best of all time ??

This is my kind of thread since I am all over the pool circuit and I actually met and played with professional pool players. I am currently in the process to see if I can get my pro tour card for the state of California.

Best pool player I have seen play passed away a couple years ago. He was a house pro and played during the 70's to present before passing away. A real pool hustler and never turned down a game.

I would probably say the best I have seen and I have seen many live and played with them:

Thorsten
SVB
Efren
Oscar Dominguez
Vilmos Foldes

Just the top of my head.

I have made a thread about this in the past and I have made a thread showing off pool cues, something I love to collect as well.

Since I am playing pool for about 15 years now, and I watched so many matches and so many great players, I just cant choose one player above the rest, but I can put them in tiers, something like this:

1. Earl
Bustamante
Reyes
Souquet
Alcano
Immonen

2. Archer
Appleton
SvB
Feijen
Ko Pin Ji

I was just too young to remember players such as Sigel, Hall, Varner, Mosconi etc playing so Im not going to include them.

But the best cue sport' player of all time is Ronnie no question about it.

Haven't watch billards in a long time. I used to watch during mid - late 90s up to mid 2000s. Efren "Bata" Reyes was the best that I've seen play.

I actually won a state tournament and national competition down here in Australia

I've got a real keen eye for pool and dart. Could have gone pro but lost the love for the game.

Lol, bro. We posted this before. Back in the "what table should I buy" thread before.

You know your cues and tables. Yes! I'd love to play you! We argued about cues before.

I have a Dufferin cue. 21oz. I like the weight and tip. I'd love to play you.

I played cash 1 and 2 Vegas team 8 ball here in Penn. My bro ranked cash Vegas 2 first overall. He was ranked 2 in the league. Would love to play. I even know your table preference bro! Someday let's make it work.

I got to say yes. His use of the bank is unreal. Not just bank shots but manipulation of banks. No masse or jumps. Angle use is ****ing great. I pattern this style:

Scorpion Jonny Archer is a textbook player who everyone should emulate. He's a living billiards calculator.
