Kobe won his 5th while he was still in his prime (team built around him, carried his team to the Finals in that WCF) while Duncan won his 5th playing less than 30 minutes a game (role player in a system that made it very easy for him to get his 15-20 points with all the 3pt shooters and Kawhi).

Even the casuals don't think Kobe is better anymore. :oldlol:

The Kobe insecurity lately is on another level. If you weren't so mad why would you make all of these threads?

Notice it's this same poster making these Duncan threads. Day after day.

Rent free.

Obsessed.

And he'll keep making these threads after Kobes retirement speech, and Duncan's in the playoffs.

He can't handle the BIG FUNDAMENTAL.

Kobe routinely shat on the Spurs.. It's not his fault the Spurs are a great organisation and the lakers went down the toilet after Jerry buss passed away..

No, Phil Jax and the Lakers got to 16 5 years ago.

Kobe's 40% shooting in back 2 back 2 back finals series says they won despite his awful chucking.

Good on the Lakers. Even though Kobe has them in the gutter ATM they're still an all-time great franchise, and the moment cancer retires we'll see free agents flock to LA like they always have, which will mean more future success.

Since 2011:

Kobe
3 All-NBA First teams
MVP voting: 4th (2011), 4th (2012), 5th (2013)

Duncan
1 All-NBA First team, 1 All-NBA Third team
MVP voting: 7th (2013)

They are completely shook. They be dissing Duncan and acting like the spurs were winning championships regularly before he joined the team.

Duncan
1 All-NBA First team, 1 All-NBA Third team
MVP voting: 7th (2013)

Since 2011 doesn't include 2011. Otherwise it's six years total from 2010-2011 till 2015-2016 (current season)

In that time Duncan has 1 title, 2 finals, 3 or 4 wcfs
Kobe has one with wcsf (getting beat 4-1) and coming up short in the clutch in the pivotal games.

Agreed, I dunno why people put so much argument into who is the better player, like it really matters at the end of the day....

Some pick Kobe, some pick Duncan

Both are legendary players, who have had legendary careers

Been blessed to see the arguable best PF to ever play the game and the closest player to MJ aka top 3 all time SG. Coming up to the end of a great era

It's 2011-2015, the past 5 years like you said. That's cool but Kobe was by far the better player in 2011, 2012, and 2013 - all top 5 in mvp voting plus first team.

Could be a potential choke tho..hope he follows Wilt's footsteps. Hope the Warriors beat them down so you can tell me what his +/- and RAPM is :oldlol:

A potential choke, how exactly? This Warriors team is getting to all-time great status quickly and could beat out the 72-10 record, tbh. Also, isn't it quite odd that Laker fans refer to Timmy as a role player. A choke job is almost never about the role players.

Tbf the man who lead his team to the wcfs in 2012 and nba finals in 2013 was better than the guy watching ay home come May.
Ditto 2014 and 2015. So atleast 4 out of the 5 years were Duncan. 2011 was close either way but the past 2.5 years have been Duncan by a landslide which offsets any advantage Kobe had at any point during the past two years.

2007, Duncan was still the man, the leader of his team. just didn't get the FMVP.
2014, Duncan was good all 5 games - 15/10. Leonard was bad first two games, amazing the last 3 games all wins. 15/5. FMVP could have went to either guys.

Kobe was clearly never was the man/leader during the 3-peat and not even close to winning the FMVP.

more importantly, duncan played all of his Finals games. he deserve all his rings. Kobe? 4 out of 6 Finals in 2000. Bonafide sidekick/Robin for his first 3.

Oh, and let's look at the numbers: 5 = 5 / 3 > 2 / 2 > 1
