Does the All-star game count for something?

I get what you're saying, I personally don't think fans should be able to vote for all-stars. Yeah the league wants to put what the people want on the court, but what the people want isn't necessarily the best. Evidence? Kobe this year, T-Mac and Yao in 2010 I believe, Obama, the list the goes on.
Coaches and GM's should be able to vote in every all-star, get more educated people on the task

Not as glorious as the spectacle of Kobe embarrassing himself in fromt of 100s of millions live.

The whole world will be on notice to see how much "The Black mamba" has fallen off

IMO this could potentially destroy his legacy, especially if he drops one of those 1/14 stinkers

This nigguh got a copy of Fantastic Four on DVD from his grandma and had to pretend to be happy about it, and now he's taking out his anger on ISH. Poor guy. I feel sorry for you, and feel even sorrier for your parents.

the world has already spoken and put the NBA on notice

they'd rather watch crippled Kobe than Lebron in his prime

that's why they voted for Kobe twice as many times as they've voted for Lebron

stay mad

If it's gonna be a pure popularity contest, contract incentives shouldn't be made based on it.

why not though? players contracts aren't based purely on performance they are also based on how much revenue a player can bring back to their franchise and winning popularity contests proves that you are marketable and will bring in supporters.

Love the sympathy boats

Who can't WAIT to see Kobe stink it up in the All Star game?

A few clunkers here, a few clankers there :lol

Sh1t is straight comedic value

And what's better than his fans overreacting to Kobe shooting above 40% game, or a dunk LOL! Like a mother watching her disabled son skribble his name in crayon on the wall. Good job honey! Yay!

They voted Kobe for respect of the game . He was probably(1th or 2th) best player of between 2001-2010 . He deserved it .

U feel me? :lol

East guys like Butler, PG, etc all feel bad for Kobe. Think they'll contest his ugly shots or swat away his sloppy passes? :lol They'll roam off him on defense all game, give him the 08 Rondo treatment

OP is right.

They may as well scrap the all star game...its actually a joke and doesn't mean shit.

It's pretty much the same as why democracy fails...stupid people are allowed to vote.

Who the **** cares if all the players are gonna play like a bunch of fakkits anyways. Compare 2015 to 2001, it's night and day.

I wouldn't say the all-star game is meaningless in terms of being an accolade for a player. Only about 6% of the league make the all-star team in any given season. That's pretty exclusive. Most NBA players will never be an all-star. Yes, occasionally the fans get it wrong, but more often than not an undeserving starter would still be selected as a reserve. If an injured player is voted in, a replacement is named so it doesn't cost a deserving player a spot. A case like Kobe this year is very rare, where a healthy player is voted in who is undeserving altogether.

He's the most popular player of the last 15 years and a retiring, one of a kind legend, it's pretty easy to see why he gets the most votes considering the league is now made up of superstars like still up and coming curry, majorly regressed Lebron and a baby Antonio Davis

Kobe's all-star selections obviously cannot be used in any arguments about his greatness. He is the equivalent of modern pop-stars like Justin Bieber being voted best musician of all time because his fans are insane.

Why is nobody voting for Duncan, Dirk & KG if they respect the game so much?

What about this season? Does he deserve over whoever didn't make it because he's taking their spot? Is that fair?

I don't want to see Kobe in the all-star game. I'm tired of even hearing about him. If he wasn't a Laker, would anyone care at this point?

take away fan voting and coaches still vote kobe in out of respect for him and his time with the NBA.

so if you still have issue with that, it's time to buy some justformen to hide those newly forming grey hairs.
