View Full Version : Roy Hibbert is garbage

Man, why is this guy starting on an NBA team? He can't move his feet, defend the paint, grab rebounds or score inside. What is the point of playing him? Jeff Green posted him up just now and Gasol crossed him over a few minutes earlier. WTF

This has been known

The reason for him starting is because the Lakers need to pile up losses

He averaged 25/11 vs the defensive juggernaut Heat in the playoffs

No excuses

he can defend the paint, just not on this shitty lakers team surrounded by shitty defenders

He would actually be more productive if he played in the mid 90's.

The Lakers are garbage as well. Kind of mad at that. You guys need to start winning or make a trade that helps this. I don't want you keeping your pick even tho we get it without protection 2017. It's principle, I want your franchise to suffer.

in that case, lebron is playing with solid 20/10 PF, 20/5 PG, 10/9 back up PF, with multiple avg 10+ scoring fire power benches.
no excuse.

He would actually be more productive if he played in the mid 90's.

He'd be a bench player in the 90s.

Starting centers in 1994-95, more than 50 games started, sorted by scoring:

Shaq
Hakeem
D-Rob
Ewing
Mourning
Smits
Divac
Mutombo
Sean Rooks
Olden Polynice
Benoit Benjamin
Eric Montross
Andrew Lang
Shawn Bradley
Will Perdue
Mark West
Chris Dudley
Andrew Lang

I suppose he could start over someone like Andrew Lang, Sean Rooks and Montross.

He would not beat out Shawn Bradley that's for sure. I would say he and Muresan are about the same level of play.

I'm so happy the Pacers traded him for a 2nd rounder. Pacers basically got nothing but saved over $15 million in salary

I don't understand how he suddenly went from a top center in the league on the Pacers into... this. What the hell happened.

No shame in coming off the bench. He would be a more productive player in the 90's. Big men had room to operate, more isolations, more "bangers and goons".... less pace.

He was never a top center in the league.

This dude was clearly "Space Jam'd"

Like...all of his abilities from that contract year with the Pacers...just...evaporated.

It's just hilarious to watch this guy now.

And this is what the Lakers do with their cap space....I don't want to hear anything about "Kobe should have taken the minimum for the Lakers to be competitive", watching Roy on the Lakers reminds me of prime Kwame Brown, only that we don't have peak Kobe here to put up 35 points every night...

hibbert is basically a real life version of groot. a big body, that can stand in place and swat shots. his main problem is hes not that mobile. but if the lakers had players that rotated properly, he'd look much more valuable than he does now.

but the reality of the situation is that his team doesnt give effort on D. team defense disappears quarters at a time, leaving hibbert to cover up on their lapses, resulting on him looking like an asshole out there.

put him on a team with players that actually give defensive effort and have any semblance of defensive IQ, and he looks much better.

Roy Hibbert can be an effective player in the right situation (defensively anyway), but he's not a guy who can join any team and make an immediate impact. I'm sure on the Heat we could make him useful again.

He'd block more shots that's for sure when he could paint camp. He'd suck massively on offense though, he has no post moves worth mentioning and every center was 7 foot back then.

Which is why I put him in the same category as a worse Shawn Bradley, that's the truth, even 7'6'' Shawn Bradley had better moves than Hibbert.

If you watch him, you can tell he only puts in about 5%. I would refuse to sign somebody like that. This guy should be a force with his size and ability but even JJ Barea is more intimidating.

I hate that this guy gets paid.

This is like saying the sky is blue. The guy doesn't have a single quick twitch fiber in his body.

how much help does kobe need?

He needs someone to build time machine and get Prime Jordan, Bird, Magic, Robinson, Malone, Stockton, Pippen, Ewing, Mullin, Drexler and Barkley to help him out.
