Going to be doing 3 hours of total commuting a day for the next 2-3 years (work). Need to get a car.

Which one should I get?

Honda Accord LX 2010
36k miles
$12,100

Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Grand Touring 2010
74k miles
$12,940

Honda CR-V EX-L 2007
61k miles
$13,080

Kia Optima LX 2012
34k miles
$12,950

Honda Accord EX 2008
60k miles
$11,350

What should I get? I'm leaning toward the 2007 Honda CR-V EX-L. It's got nice leather seats, im partial to SUV's, good enough gas mileage (30 mpg highway), and low mileage for the age. The only thing I'm worried about is the resale value when I want to unload it in 3 years.

Honda Accord but I'm not a big fan of those cars you listed.

My advice, stay away from Hyundai

How about an apartment that's not 1.5 hours away from your job?
Optima or Accord EX since the features are nice and the price difference is very low probably

My commute in Indy tops 2 hours sometimes. Price you pay to live away from the trash. 45 minutes to work, an hour, maybe more to get home. I could see LA or the Bay Area being far worse. My dad was making an hour and a half drive each way in Houston.

As for OP, I vote for the Accord. I'm partial to Honda and Toyota (have a Corolla myself), and for the price and package, that's a pretty good deal.

Mileage isn't an issue, and the car will hold its resale value in three years, so you'd be looking at probably getting 8k back when it comes time to sell it.

My dad used to leave at 4am because if he didn't his LA commute ONE WAY was over 2 hours. Is downtown Indy that bad?

I just happen to live on the complete opposite side of the city from where I work. I love where I live, I love my apartment, my balcony, my view, the location, the shopping and dining nearby...

And I also love where I work.

So, to me, loving where I live and loving where I work is more important than my two hour commute. I mean, an hour each way seems like a lot, but it goes by pretty quickly. Going home can be a bitch, if there's a wreck, cause its taken me almost two hours to get home before, but it is what it is.

I work 8-5, so leaving at 7 and getting home at 6 isn't terrible. My girlfriend has a 4 minute drive, but she also works 55-60 hours a week, so, it could always be worse.

Keep in mind tht when he says he lives away from thrash he's talking about black people. Just keep that in mind when having a conversation with him.

ya they do. indy is approx 25% black which is about twice the national average.

For me, length of commute (or lack thereof) is a part of whether I like my job.

Indy is almost 1/3 black.

Like I said, I live away from the city to stay away from the trash. That would be whites, browns, AND blacks. Trash is trash, and unlike many on this board, I don't differentiate which trash I like more based on skin color. Trash is all the same to me, I don't discriminate.

This is a legit question, Indy is just indianapolis? I thought it was the state because my grandpa used to say he was going back to Indy after our summer get togethers and he didn't live in the city. Probably shouldn't be using my grandpa to define slang...

Our Mazda 3 gets 400 miles a tank and costs $30 to fill up.. pretty freaking sweet city commuter car. We have the 4Runner for mountain adventures.

You'd be good with anything fuel efficient and reliable (Corolla, Mazda 3, Civic) though the Mazda is the most fun of the three IMO.

Accord is good if you need something bigger for whatever reason.

I would guess most people outside of the state use Indy for Indianapolis (Like ESPN). Most who live here use Indy strictly for Indianapolis and Indiana for the rest of the state.

But I always use Indy for Indiana when telling people where I'm headed (Like when I'm headed home).

I loved the Mazda. I'd choose it over the accord. The Mazda 6, the new model.

Best in talks for looks and fuel

If you look at the new Nissan maxima, and the new Mazda3/6 you'll see Nissan copied the entire front from Mazda.
