What are your top 10 movies of this year?

For me it's:
10. The Walk - a VERY underrated movie, great acting and great story. One of the most exciting movies of all time.
9. Spy - hugely funny, great cast.
8. The Intern - one of the best feel-good movies I've seen
7. Sicario - it's this high based on del toro's performance witch was, imho, one of the best all time
6. MI5: Rogue Nation - huge fun, Cruise is awesome as always
5. The Man from UNCLE - the chemistry between the three leads and the fun of this movie is not to be denied.
4. Ex Machina - This is a movie that has it's own feel to it, feels very very original
3. The Martian - Just a very good movie overall. The comedic value and acting is just perfect
2. Inside Out - one of the best animated movies ever, great story and amazingly executed.
1. Mad Max: Fury Road - an amazing experience on film. I also feel like the story and acting elements were underrated in the shadow of amazing action and excitement.

HN: San Andreas, Straight Outta Compton, Avengers 2, maze runner 2,

I haven't seen star wars, the whole franchise just doesn't really interest me that much and the acting in the first movie was too horrible for me so I turned it off after 15 minutes and never gotten into it.
Mad Max is more of an achievement than a movie.

Kingsman or Creed should be the first you see, I enjoyed both immensely. Black Mass disappointed but still worth it just for Depps performance.

My girl and I enjoy a night at the movies and have remarkably similar taste. If not for other social commitments, I'd have seen the majority of those "Didn't get to see in theaters" flicks. Gotta change it up every once in a while.

Missed a lot of big releases in 2015, unfortunately. But:

1. Chi-Raq
2. Mad Max: Fury Road
3. Inherent Vice
4. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
5. Adieu au Langage (didn't see it in theatres until 2015)
6. Ned Rifle
7. No Home Movie
8. A Most Violent Year
9. Ex Machina
10. Carol

Also, come on Arbitrary. There was a lot of films worth talking about this year!

I watched The Revenant and that would be in my top 5 for this year. The anger that Glass carries with him through those wilderness conditions just makes the movie for me.

That movie was garbage.

I didn't like all 4 of the last movies I had on the list, so there isn't much separating them. But I liked the guy who played John Connor, felt he did a good job, at least made for a more interesting villain.

Star wars was crap. Didn't deserve top 5 This year for me and I don't watch a lot of movies. I can usually enjoy a film if it has a good plot or if I care about the characters. Star Wars didn't do either for me.

"Good plot"

"Good characters"

Puts AoU in his top 3, Terminator and Jurassic World in top 6.

kek. What was left of your small credibility is now completely gone.

It looks like it COULD be amazing. The cinematography will obviously be godly. But did they allow a truly original plot to unfold in whatever way and whatever time frame was necessary to make the movie impactful? Or did they give it the ol 'hollywood blockbuster formula' and sacrifice a ton of substance to make it more likely to succeed commercially?

Time will tell. My gut tells me the latter.
