yeah mate, look, when ur a guard who relies on pure athletic ability ur going to need a 40+ inch vert to carry you into ur thirties. Westbrook right now at his absolute max is stuck on 36.5 inches. That in itself wouldn't be bad if he played like a true PG, someone such as Rondo but for someone who affects his game exclusively through supposed freakish athleticism, it just doesn't cut the dice I afraid.

Compare him to Lebron James, who has a 40 inch plus vert even at his current age weighing much more and with a far greater reach (and skilled ontop of his natural gifts too), its just not cutting the mustard.

I don't know how the scouts missed that one. A guy with a 36.5 inch vert has no business being in the NBA

You mentioned Lebron and his 40 inch vertical allows him to play into his 30s, have you watched Lebron play the last 10 games?

westbrook has way higher than a 36.5 inch vertical
at least 40"

he's really just 6'3..unless he has really long arms he cannot dunk like that with a 36.5" vert

36.5" standing?

That's elite.

And he has long arms.

The only people on par with his quickness are young Monta, young Iverson, pre-knee injury Rose, Barbosa, and LBJ.

Im afraid not mate, that his absolute peak with a runup. POVERTY . Sure he can just scrape in a dunk every now and then with in game adrenaline but he has to take full advantage of his height and arms for that, he has NO business whatsoever to be considered a 'high flyer'

he gets most of his lift from the opposing player, hes hard pressed dunking without getting a bump from the other team.

its trickery, he only JUST got that in, he pulls himself up as soon as he touched the rim to get his head higher, I certainly aint buying it, he isnt even close to a pre injury rose in terms of pure vert.

That's great Westbrook only measured a 36.5" vert at the combine or whatever. Clearly he wasn't 100% or was sick or wasn't trying that day.

Allstar game, Westbrook literally had to bend away to avoid hitting the rim.

There's a pic of him even higher than this one too.

okay ill be generous and assume his head reaches 1.5 inches above the backboard, can someone do the math on his vertical assuming he is 6'3 in shoes.

do you know how much lower the bottom of the backboard is then the rim???

It's at least 6 inches or more

When we were in grade school, the big thing was slapping the backboard on a layup... Touching the rim was MUCH higher than slapping the bottom of the backboard.

nice try on the deceptive, garbage angle though.

114 inch bottom of backboard, 6'3 = 75 inch. 114 - 75 is 39" + 1.5 is 40.5.

how much lower is the bottom of the backboard from the rim

looks like you're saying the bottom of backboard is 114 inches off the ground, and therefore 6 inches lower than the rim's 120 inches
