It's tough to go through and difficult to take responsibility for those actions because you're not in conscious control of yourself when you do them. Luckily, I got it figured out shortly after college and it has never affected my work. Can't imagine where I'd be without proper support.

It can lead to psychosis, yes. States of mania can be identified and avoided if you're getting proper treatment, but the first time (before I knew what I had) I didn't know what the hell was going on and thought I was schizophrenic. As I said before, it was hard to accept but I took responsibility for my actions and didn't make excuses and have not had a severe problem since.
