No first round pick this upcoming draft. and any thought of playoff chances pretty much died with the news of Jacks injury. They have decent pieces that could net them a late first round pick. should they go that route?

They should absolutely trade the entire roster for first round picks, second picks, cash, guacamole, whatever. They need to give the Celtics as good of a spot in the lottery as they possibly can.

Whatever "decent pick" they have, nobody is going to trade for them but hey it's Billy King. They aren't going to get a first round pick till 2019.

They can't even start a rebuild yet. They would have to a hope a frontcourt of Lopez, Young, and RHJ to make them some fringe playoff team for the next 3 years, which is not going to happen when their backcourt sucks.

Got to give Joe Johnson's agent credit. He got Joe that contract and he never had to live up to it. He's been god awful.

Blow what up? All they have is Brook Lopez.

yeah, he should definitely be put on the market. no point in keeping him. Joe Johnson for scraps, if theyre lucky. Even young should be moved, but i dont think he has much value in the league.

I'd outright give up all 6 Boston 2016 2nd rounders and David Lee for Joe Johnson.

They resigned both guys for the next 3 years. Neither have that much value in today's league but Brooklyn has to have somebody.

Yeah blow up isn't the right wording

But they absolutely should trade Joe Johnson for 2-3 NBA players.

They should just say "Screw it" and sign Nick Young, go the Laker route

Who would give 2-3 players for Old Joe?

Why would they blow it up when they don't even have their own picks. They need to start hitting free agency hard.

This may sound crazy, but I think Prokorav might be planning to turn the Nets into the unofficial International NBA team now that he owns the entire frachise. I could see the team looking a lot like the Raptors looked a few years back. Just a thought.

Didn't Jack's ACL let go during the Celtics game last week?

No they shouldn't blow it up. They should add a couple pieces in FA next season to play with Brook and Thad. They should try to win as many games as they can and build a good culture.

They very much should start over. Nobody gonna take JJ, just pay him and get it over with. People will want Lopez. You can get picks and young prospects from someone. Young, T-Rob, Jack and Ellington people will want. At least get second rounders for some of those guys, then maybe trade the seconds for a first to a team not interested in paying a rookie a guarantee deal. Hell someone would take Bargs too im sure. It is a shame how things worked out. Idk if i ever saw a team give up so much to achieve so little.

Yeah, this is as tough a spot as I can recall a team being in. Obviously blowing it up doesn't help without having a pick that they can move up with. But obviously Joe Johnson is not going to be on the next relevant Nets team, so I'd try to move him. I could see someone in the playoff mix thinking their non-lottery first rounder is worth the upgrade at SG for a possible playoff run. I just don't know what team that would be. The same may be true of Thad too, and maybe of Brook as well, and Brook should be able to fetch the most assets.

If I were running the team I'd move those guys and try to replace the picks I lost from the previous management.

Agreed. They have already held onto Brook Lopez too long, and his trade value is pretty low. Don't blow it any further.
