Steph Curry has replaced LeBron as the best player in the league and it doesn't look like he is giving up that title anytime soon. Kevin Durant is well known as always being the 2nd best. Has Steph Curry sealed Durant's fate to "always be 2nd?"

I suspect that within 3 years Durant will be estimated greater than Curry.

Maybe within 1 year. What if they meet in the playoffs, Thunder win, Durant wins the title, Durant outscores Curry in the series? Curry goes 2-10 from 3 in the closing game? It's very possible. Fans are fickle.

How to know fans are fickle: many of them think Curry is far and away the best player in the league at this moment. ... He's not. He's top 3 and he's having the best season. There is an argument to be made for him but it's not set in stone.

Durant was the best player in 2014.

I had either him or Anthony Davis pegged as the consensual BITW, and I was wrong; Curry took the reigns.

It's a shame. Kevin Durant finally seized the torch as the BITW in 2014, but he wasn't out-of-the-pack of longevous enough in that stretch to really garner media- and fanbase-wide recognition for it as Curry is doing now.

Curry's not even the best player on his team, arguably top 3 on Warriors

Durant was the best player in 2014 quite comfortably.
Curry in 15.
LeBron only had a 2 year span of 12-13

Agreed, Durant never was world recognized as the clear cut best in the world as Curry is now.
