Which of these 2 did less than expected?
Edit: they both did less but who did "more" less?

Probably Marvin. I guess.
I remember him getting a good deal of hype and many thought he'd become a true star.
I don't remember Green getting near the same level of of hype.
Anyway Marvin ended up Peaking in his 3rd season and then regressed & flat-lined as a decent roleplayer from then on.
Green did more than Williams but i also expected more from Green, so he did less in reaching expectations. i can't remember what hype either player had coming into the association but once both players were established i felt Green could become a fringe all - star level player. Never believed in Williams but that could because of where he was taken in the draft and being a clear bust vs. Cp3 and Dwil
Green was a bigger letdown

Williams was the #2 pick of his draft. Yet, another bad/underwhelming #2 pick, like Thabeet, MKG, and many others.

Every time I watch Jeff Green play I wonder how it is possible to have some much pure talent and not be a better player

Memphis stunted Green's growth, he was doing fine in Boston.

he really wasn't
had the same consistency and motor issues. The Celtics did a good job of pumping him up and got what looks to be a good pick in 2019

Nah, he'd have good nights here and there because he had the green light, but he was inconsistent as hell and wasn't gonna lead the team anywhere.
Celtics did a great job at pumping up his value and dumping him though.

It's Marvin. Green was definitely on the second tier of that 07 draft, and I remember thinking it was really a third tier after Horford and Conley. Plus he was a Jr. iirc coming in, so his upside was already closer to being met even from the most optimistic fans.
Marvin was a hugely regarded freshman coming out, who's limited production at UNC made it seem like his ceiling was still completely untapped. And he was right in the middle of the chain of super freshman, so expectations were sky high. He was taken ahead of Deron Williams, Chris Paul, and Ray Felton, who regardless of how their careers turned out, were all better as prospects than even Conley was at the same position probably. And certainly better than the real lottery tickets that Green was drafted in front of, like Yi Jianlian, Brandon Wright, and Corey Brewer, or the established but flawed prospects like Noah and Hawes.

I don't know, Jeff Green had potential to become a David West status for me, but that all changed when he wasn't utilized properly in Boston. He was such a huge part of the OKC's offense. I underestimated OKC back then, but currently on paper now & with their roster in 2010, that is a legit contending team. OKC FO  Built themselves, f*cked themselves.

Marvin. He was supposed to be a major cog in that Atlanta build. Never put it together though. He's had such a forgettable career.

The guy who was drafted ahead of CP3
ahead of cp3, deron williams, & raymond felton back when atlanta badly needed a point guard.
Jeff Green was part of the blockbuster traded for world champion center Kendrick Perkins, whom OKC saw as the missing piece to their championship aspirations. :applause:
What has Marvin ever done in his NBA career?

Remember when Atlanta's starting lineup was Al Harrington, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams, Joe Johnson, and Josh Childress? 5 forwards lol.

Everyone loaded up on bigs in '11.
OKC got Perkins.
Dallas got Chandler.
Denver got Mozgov, and McGee the following year.
The idea was that you needed bigs to match up with Gasol and Bynum. Little did anyone know that the Lakers were about to fall off the map.

I think Mozgov was more of a Melo trade thing, and Mozgov was more based on potential than RIGHT NOW production. But yeah teams were trying to stockpile big's just because the Lakers were loaded at C/PF.
The Perkins-Jeff Green trade WAS actually based on what they can bring in NOW at the time.
It's just hilarious how the Perkins-Green was actually a blockbuster trade looking back 4 years later. :oldlol:

I never thought either one would be good. I thought they would both be about as good as Batum at best.
Wasn't Marvin picked over Chris Paul? Oh man.
I don't remember when Green was drafted. Draft position would probably have to decide this one, and I'm guessing Marvin was picked much higher.

Marvin easily. He was drafted at 2 ahead of CP3 and Deron, and the Hawks needed a pg. :facepalm
I used to live in Atlanta and root for the Hawks and that pick really killed them.
