It's no deflection. I'm not saying the illegal immigrants don't commit crimes, but the are just a part in the picture that's a big problem in the US. It's also starting to be a problem in Europe with low wage regions even within cities and rising crime rates. Of course immigrants, especially illegal ones, are bottom of the food chain and settling in exactly in those regions and magnifying the problems. But the apparent gap between western Europe and the US, both the most developed regions in the world should be food for thought.

A legal immigrant is a contributing member of society who is either well educated or got a big bank balance, sometimes both. The other two are just drains on society.
