"Pau is done"

Shut your pasty ass up. He looked done. He had the most injuries out of his whole career his last season, and looked a shell of his former self (blame it on D'Antoni or Gasol's psyche) but he didnt look good at all.

That being said, love that hes been killing it.

I don't think he looked done, well, maybe a couple times...just obvious to me after seeing the olympics...he just wasn't being used correctly.

And Mchale top 35-40 , Pau not in top 60 in people's all time list :oldlol: .

Pau has better career than Mchale . Don't underestimate the Pau , he is legend .

i think the new softer era and the league going small has revived his game

in todays league a 7 footer is like having a yao ming 10 years ago

this probably explains his gains in rebounding

if only the lakers would have known how things were going and could have kept him.

owell

Their 23 to 34 100 poss playoff numbers ;

Mchale - 27.4 pts , 10.8 reb , 2.4 ast , 0.6 stl , 2.4 blk , 2.8 to , 122 Ortg , 109 Drtg , %61.8

Pau - 23.7 pts , 13.5 reb , 4.8 ast , 0.8 stl , 2.6 blk , 2.8 to , 116 Ortg , 107 Drtg , %56.3 TS

Pau better on rebounding, playmaking and defending . Mchale better on scoring, shooting .

They are close as a impacts . Both are top 55-60 all time player to me .

But according to one poster here, Pau is not even a top 110 player of all time

Pau's impact during the laker repeat was huge. He played a lot better than his "all-time ranking" indicates. Just as wade played a lot poorer than his ATG ranking. But kobe stans conveniently ignore these facts and just go along with "kobe didnt have another HOFer while Lebron had two". Well, arbitrary player rankings don't win games, basketball impact does.

Gasol has easily had a better career then McHale.

The only reason why people don't appreciate that is because he wasted his early years on shit teams before joining LAL and turning them from a 0.0-SRS 1st round exit team into a 7.0+SRS monster contender.

Prime for Prime there isn't much of a gap between him and McHale so his extreme longevity edge clearly gives him the superior career value.

As others have said McHale was a somewhat better ISO scorer while Gasol was a much better passer/creator and a somewhat better rebounder.

Those playoff stats feyki posted aren't really fair for Gasol since he was so badly misused from 11-13 on those badly run Laker teams dominated by a declining Kobe and some awful coaching (Dantoni...)

Here is the same comp but using 23-29 for Gasol (his Prime years when he was used correctly) and even then he probably would have put up better stats playing alongside a genius like Bird instead of on those crap Memphis teams.

Those Boston teams were all about passing/sharing the ball.
Gasol would have been an absolutely perfect fit for them.

Playoff Pau P100 (age 23-29) :
25 / 13.3 / 4.3-apg / 2.6-bpg / 120-ORTG

Playoff McHale P100 (age 23-29) :
26 / 11.1 / 2.2-apg / 2.7-bpg / 120-ORTG

:pimp:

So yeah... McHale played on very popular Bird led teams while Pau wasted his early years on crap teams and then played with Kobe who has the most insecure fanbase that loves shitting on or diminishing anyone who played with him.
In reality though they are on the same tier Prime for Prime and Gasol had the better career.

Me to a Laker fan friend of mine 3 years ago:

Pau is not a slightly above averge 4. Hes a crazy skilled 4 who isnt being given the ball. Hes probably become best passing big since Webber, he got 9 boards a game in 33 minutes playing next to the leagues leading rebounder, and half his shots were spot up 20 footers when hes one of the most skilled post players in the world.

How you dont see how good Pau is is beyond me. Almost like how some Kobe fans act like everyone on his team is ass no matter what they do.

Big big difference between not producing due to lack of skill and not producing due to your situation. Pau put up 18/12/7 on 51% shooting in April...14/12/7 on 48% shooting in the playoffs...hes 7'1' 270(so says the NBA at least), and hes had a triple double in 3 of his last 7 games.

The instant....and I mean...the INSTANT hes back on Spain hes gonna look as good as any bigman on earth again....because they are gonna use him like bigmen were used in the 80s.

Swap this guy for David Lee he might put up 16/11/5 and win 60 games.

Pau Gasol is still Pau. Hes closer to being Pau than Duncan is to being Duncan. And Duncan is still pretty much Duncan...just a step slower.

Ive loved Paus game his entire career. I wish he got out of Memphis sooner.

Future HOFamer and that #16 will be in the Lakers rafters.

Gasol might of looked done but don't believe for a second this wasn't due to how Lakers were being run.

All his interviews and reports led to believe that he would become an allstar or borderline allstar the moment he joined a proper organization.
