This shit is infuriating to me.

Basically, Tamir Rice's mother went on TV and called out LeBron to say how sad and disappointed she was that LeBron didn't come out and speak/support her family over her son getting gunned down by the police.

I guess because him and the Heat stupidly wore hoodies and he wore the 'I Can't Breathe' t-shirt she expected him to do something similar regarding her son's unfortunate downfall

How fcking ignorant does one have to be to ridicule LeBron James, a fcking basketball player, for not being some kind of fake civil rights activist again after her son's untimely death ?? Like he's the type of leadrship black people need or deserve in political arenas.

:facepalm

This whole expected solidarity with the black community to always be on their side and basically just make noise about tough judgment calls is really really ridiculous. I've always been a guy to be harsh on police actions but this mother seemingly doesn't wish to change policy, procedures and improve anything.

No, she just at least thought "he'd put on a t-shirt or something."

Not only that, there was a social media campaign with ' #NoJusticeNoLeBron ' calling for him to SIT OUT GAMES to protest the decision not to press charges on the officer who shot Rice.

This is really sick. So there's enough black people to start a campaign for a damn basketball player to protest a judicial decision as if he is the beacon ambassador of Black America.... A damn athlete :facepalm

I really think pretty lowly overall of the Black Lives Matter movement as it seems this ridiculous mentality is more prevalent than any type of critical dialogue from people who possess suitable intelligence .

No, this mother has the AUDACITY to want recognition for her son being killed and while I feel bad for her loss, it seems getting backing from LeBron was some kind of expectation. Like that would do anything or ultimately mean anything other than recognition from people who worship a damn basketball player.

Overall, people like this are so ignorant and America's racial climate is worse than it ever has been.

Lebron James is being looked to for a portion of black Americans to act as MLK

The bulk of the blame from her son's death lies with her. She knows it and issuing blame instead of coming to terms with her parenting mistakes is a way of maintaining her sanity.

Well, he has to expect this. Especially since he went all out with the black hoodys and I cant breathe shirts.

He wanted to be more than basketball. He is prob one of the most famous black men in America. People will always look for his support on these matters from here on out.

This is why most athletes stay apolitical. Boiled down, LeBron James is a grown man who gets paid exorbitant amounts of money to play a children's game. He is not some political activist or civil rights leader.

Yea I mean I guess that's true. I always cringed when he did it before because frankly, an NBA court is not the place to make political or racial statements. Most of the dudes are just impressionable emotional Play Doh themselves.

LeBron did kinda bring this type of shit on himself.

However, what pisses me off and also makes me sad is that there are so many black people that are so dumb and vocal that somehow Lebron james is being looked at as some kind of bridge between Black America and law enforcement/ judicial system/ general public, etc.

Like really? Y'all are so stupid that you think depriving America a basketball player's game is some kind of bargaining chip to improve police brutality :facepalm

It's honestly embarrassing to be an American sometimes when you step and see how some of our citizens act and how fcked up their priorities are, specifically in the BLM type people's minds these days.

THEY WANT LEBRON JAMES AS A POWER PLAY TO IMPROVE RACIAL TENSIONS BETWEEN LAW ENFORCEMENT AND AN ENTIRE RACE.

A guy who plays basketball is THAT important to their worldview and personal landscape of society

I def feel sad for the mother's loss. Police are very incompetent more regularly than is comfortable but how damn simple do you have to be to go on television vocalize criticism about a damn NBA player not putting on a t-shirt to show your dead 12 year old son some love?

It's almost as if she was hoping that, since her son was taken from her, that at least such a prominent figure in the black community would show her family some love. As if that's important to her in the grand scheme.

It's sad but her tone and level of expectation also pissed me off

They believe Lebron's words hold more weight than someone less famous. It's really stupid of them, I'm sure Lebron cares but he is not sitting out for it :facepalm

Who is even the modern day MLK?

She's not calling out the Rams for their support.

Remember when they came out of the tunnel and perpetuated the 'hands up don't shoot' lie?

Just shows the point of celebrity worship we've reached these days. She's not concerned about a civil rights attorney, the DOJ, the general public, etc isn't taking up her cause... She's mad because a basketball player didn't wear a t-shirt with her son's picture on it or didn't tweet about it.

People used to get on MJ's case in the 90s for not taking up any political causes. But the man was savvy enough (and really, business-minded enough) to stay in his lane. You take up one cause, people will expect you to take up all causes even if you disagree with them.

It's possible LeBron felt Rice's case was justifiable, who knows?

People who cares about this kind of news are what makes it news worthy in the first place. By itself this is just TMZ gossip level news where an angry mother wants her son's death to mean something so she desperately seek attention. Pretty normal and shallow stuff.

Lebron is just a basketball player, yes a celebrity, but he has nothing to do with this. Plus he's a registered Republican and a member of the NRA.

I agree with this but he wasn't the only one who was doing the I can't breathe shirts. I remember seeing in that more warmups than just the Cavs.

Lebron wasn't the only athlete to make a political statement at the time, nor was he the most outspoken. The St. Louis Rams exited their tunnel before a game with their 'hands up don't shoot' lie... Lebron just wore a t-shirt.

She's only going after him cause his name is Lebron.

Gotcha.

Well also the kid who was shot was a Cleveland kid so the closeness of proximity probably had her keyed on LeBron's "support"

Either way, athletes that make political or socially conscious statements on the field or on the court are pretty dumb.

Obviously, they have a right to voice their opinion, even when then it becomes expected like now it apparently is but the Rams and NBA dudes who wore the shirt and hoodies really just come off as reactionary and not very bright

What was LeBron ,realistically and practically, gonna do to improve this situation and others like them? Really though, what the **** is LeBron James supposed to do to solve American societal woes?

It's like when Chapelle was talking about when Carson Daly and MTV talking to Ja Rule on TRL after 9/11.

"Who gives a **** about what Ja Rule thinks at a time like this? I don't wanna dance I'm scared to death! I want some answers that Ja Rule might not have right now."

All you did was the, "you could never understand" bullshit

Just answer the question, What would LeBronJames speaking up about this case possibly do to rectify it or help those in the future?

Lebron paints himself as more than just a basketball player, he cant claim this great loyalty to cleveland and north east ohio, then just play dumb and act like he doesnt have any opinions on a lightening rod case thats happening in his home.

My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball - from his si essay

id understand if, say, kd avoided this kind of story in okc, hes doesnt claim to be to okc, what lebron claims to be to cleveland.

if cleveland means as much to him as he claims, theres no way he doesnt know about the story.

lebron's such a bitch. any mf'er can donate to charities or wear a tshirt or arm band but few of those fgts will pick up the shovel and actually let their actions say it all. he is fake as fukk, just like most celebs who might bring attention to shit, but doing it in the laziest way possible.

not that i agree with Tamar Rice or this reverse racist black movement of the 2000's. just saying all of these bitch ass athletes and entertainers are fake as hell and just following the fads without actually doing 'work' for their causes. its about time them bitches get called out :applause:

Except those cases were incredibly dissimilar to the Tamir Rice case. Tamir Rice was shot because he was waving around a gun that looked very real. The officer did not act appropriately, but that's why he was shot. Black hoodys were about a case that had nothing to do with police, and I can't breath was about a dude being ****in choked to death.

LeBron hasn't responded to this...are you mistaking his "I didn't know the kid" quote to be about Tamir Rice? Because it's not. It's about him not talking about Wiggins in his coming home essay.
