View Full Version : When was the last time we've seen a trio as good as Curry/Draymond/Klay?

Curry - Obviously the best player on the planet at the moment, coming off an MVP season, averaging 30 points this season, GOAT shooter, will go down as one of the greatest players ever.

Draymond - Maybe the most versatile power forward the NBA has seen? Leads the NBA in triple doubles, he can handle the ball, play defense at an elite level, great passer, good rebounder, and can hit 3's. Ultimate glue guy.

Klay - Top 3 shooting guard in the league, will go down as one the greatest shooters ever, plays nice defense, when he gets hot he is as good as any 2 guard in the league, has averaged 28 points in his last 12 games.

Before Wade's injury, Heat trio was close.
OKC trio had only 1 season when Harden was actually good. I don't think 2011-12 trio would come close.

Impact wise, I'd say Celtics trio. If it weren't for KG's injuries, they could have achieve more. But individually only 2007-08 KG can claim a case against current Curry, and it would be a weak case.

LeBron / Wade / Bosh was better.

KG / Allen / PP was close.

Agree with the first trio, but disagree with the second one. Rondo and a whole lot of other pieces made that Boston team great.

I'd go as far as saying that the Heats Big 3 were at least equal in 2011, just didn't have as good a supporting cast (finals aside, especially since we're only halfway through the regular season here)

At least equal? The Heat big 3 were better than Curry/Klay/Dray, and I say this as a Warriors fan.

The difference is in the support from Iggy, Barnes, Livingston, Bogut, Speights etc, every single one of them steps up when needed. Far, far deeper than the 2011 Heat.

Westbrook, Durant and Harden were better.

hell even current Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka is as good of a trio.

Durant = Curry
Westbrook > Thompson
Ibaka < Green

the math checks out.

miami trio was better individually from gsw trio but the gsw trio is perfect match and the players can give all their power something that didn't happen with miami

2011 is probably the only year they were more talented.

After that it was probably even due to Wade's injuries and decline, and Bosh declining too, and like you said, the rest of the supporting cast is so much better than anything Miami had.

Can I just say, do people not realize how much Curry and Draymond matter to the team overall?

(I consider Klay more of a luxury rather than a neccessity)

Curry's "gravity" effect

With Curry on the court vs Off the court

Iggy = 59.5 TS 58.5
Bogut = 62.5 TS 55.6
Rush = 73.5 TS 40.4
Green = 58.7 TS 52.3
Ezili = 55.3 TS 59.1
Barnes = 60.2 TS 59
Clark = 58.7 TS 57.9
McAdoo = 64.3 TS 52.2
Jason = 68.2 TS 42.9
Klay = 62 TS 51.4
Barbosa = 45 TS 52
Speights = 31.7 TS 45.6
Livingston = 63.4 TS 49.3

Most players with a role have a hug increase.

Draymonds were about the same

Btw. Curry stats with without Draymond

68.1 TS With
66.4 TS Without

Damn, I'm so glad those 3 have improved so much in the past few years. From Steph being a borderline all-star (wasn't he snubbed for LMA?) and Klay and Dray being solid role players to where they are now, with Steph the best player in the league and Klay and Dray clear all-stars (I knew Draymond had a bright future ) :applause:

On topic though, Miami's Big 3 at its peak was probably better

Green is really key IMO. He's the best power forward in the league.

A legit stretch 5 with elite defensive anchoring abilities and one of the best playmakers in the league.

He's a modern NBA GM's wet dream. Perfect for the league at the 4/5 and that's why his impact is so high. Of course, he would have the same skills and abilities if it were 1992, but especially now, he's just amazing.

You have probably the BITW, then a top 10 player, possibly fringe top 5 in Green. Then a random bomb dropper like Thompson who can light up arenas any time and play great defense for stretches sans his awful fouling. Great floor spacing, etc.

One of the greatest trios for sure.

The Heat Big 3 was an obvious pick but I think the Celtics Big 3 has a case as well.

Don't know about Miami.

In terms of individual talent, they're probably better --- but in terms of fit, GSW's big 3 fit perfectly together while Miami's somewhat suffered from the fact that there is only one ball.

That Thunder team would have beaten the Warriors in last year's finals.
