... Green Day gets in on their first year of eligibility. Out of most Hall of Fame's, I think the Rock Hall takes the cake on the mysteries of who's in and who's not in. What get's you into Cleveland? Is it fame, chart success, influence ... who the hell knows anymore.
James Brown on Kool & the Gang:
"They're the second-baddest out there...They make such bad records that you got to be careful when you play a new tape on the way home from the record store. Their groove is so strong you could wreck."

Just because James Brown said it, that doesn't make it true.

Green Day should have been exiled years ago for the lead singer's voice and how it sounds to the rest of humanity

Kizzie has a point since the Rock and Roll part of the name changed its meaning over the years. The Hall of Fame itself is basically a "popular music hall of fame."
There's still a heavy rock bias. The further from rock an artist is the harder it is to get in.

True but at the same time rock has about 30+ years on other genres. It's deeper and been around way longer than most other genres.
However, pretty soon, like 2019-2025, we'll start seeing Wu-Tang, TuPac, Biggie, Nas, Jay-Z getting inducted. I bet. NWA just got in this year, 2-3 years after their eligibility.
I hate including hip hop and country into these things. Theyre such distinct genres it makes it difficult to fit their artists onto regular music lists.
Traditional pop music is usually some blend of funk, soul, rock, jazz, blues, etc. Country has its own very large and distinct sphere and tradition, and hip hop does now too. I wish people would leave those two out of lists and rankings and hall of fames of traditional pop genres. Country has its own halp of fame. Hip hop should have one too. It's so weird trying to cram Jay Z into the rock n roll hall of fame, but you know they eventually will, just to try and stay relevant.

Screw them. Kraftwerk deserves R&R HoF much more than those mentioned earlier.

Johnny Cash is in...Garth Brooks and willie Nelson arent. Sam Cooke is in so is Nat King Cole...but not Frank Sinatra. You cant really figure some of this out...
There are real rock people in....straight soul singers...straight country singers....rappers...pop artists who just sang other peoples songs....
Its said to just be pretty much...an American music hall of fame at this point.
But no Frank Sinatra?
Frank is no less rock than Nat King Cole.
Its just....a mystery.

There are a of dumb things about it, but the dumbest of all is the fact that Iron Maiden isn't in. One of the most consistently great bands EVER.

I mean, it's really hard to figure out their criteria.
