Re-united with Scorsese, who's directing.
Project supposedly been in development for more than a decade.
Admittedly, 'Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy' are more famous names, but H.H. Holmes wasn't a strange name to me either. Read about his doings before and its truly horrific.

He shootin for that edgy Oscar win like Kobe shooting for padded Career Points.
Would the Academy vote for a role that was so dark and horrendous?
Theoretically, it seems like an Oscar type role but kinda controversial if that's the goal

HH Holmes isn't the prolific serial killer in US history, that would be the Green River Killer.
Worldwide it's between Pedro Lopez and Harold Shipman.

Another extreme role where Leo can put himself in the Oscar race.

Shit actor and mediocre director. Scorsese's last watchable film was Gangs of New York, which would've been a really good movie without DiCraprio. The Departed/Wolf of Wall Street make Bringing Out the Dead/Kundun look like Raging Bull/GoodFellas. :oldlol: This dude is incapable of staying relevant (i.e. making great movies, not winning awards or appeasing yuppie-ass critics/horny teenagers) without Paul Schrader or Nicholas Pileggi who are two GOAT screenwriters.
It's about time we all admit the Leo/Marty experiment has been one of the most disappointing collaborations in modern times, worse than "Bennifer" or D12/Harden. Go ahead and tell me I'm wrong I don't give a shit. :oldlol:

Albert Fish may have been the scariest mother****er in the history of mankind.
His charades are more disturbing to me than even Gacy and them dudes

The revenant was good, but no. The cinematography was ridiculous tho.

He's so desperate for an oscar that he even admitted it in his e-mails. That's why he only worked with talented directors, and movies with Oscar worthy script.
His performance in What's eating Gilbert Drapes is still his best acting performance.

Why would he be desperate for a useless award? He's filthy rich and bangs whoever he wants.
He just likes taking great roles.

You say that like it's a bad thing, should he accept any shitty work just for the money? BTW, don't glorify the Oscars too much, an Oscar worthy script doesn't mean much.

I gotta admit, I've thought Leo was extremely overrated for years.
But his last few roles have impressed me. He's gone from an average actor at best, to a good solid actor.
Haven't seen the Revenant yet, but he looks to have stepped it up.

Though homeboy is hating...this is true. After Titanic Leo went through an awkward young adult phase with Gangs, The Man in the Iron Mask and so on. Both of those performances are pretty bad...in general, I don't think he really started getting it together till The Departed and Blood Diamond. He certainly was not up to the task of being the leading man in Gangs though...that's for sure. Luckily DDL saved the entire movie because it had other problems besides Leo...like Cameron Diaz...what a miscast that was.

Leo is overrated though. The more you watch of him, the more you realize that he doesn't sell his character as well as the other greats before him. Hell, Tom Hardy does a spectacular job of it. Could be due to him having less exposure over the years, but at times you look at the screen and you see Leo acting, and not just the character for who they are.

Devil In The White City is one of my favorite books. I had a surreal experience reading it. I really didn't know what it was about, but I was flying to Chicago four years ago or so, and grabbed it in the airport book store. I had no idea it was about Chicago.
It's split into two stories that alternate chapter. Holmes is one, as he builds his death castle. But the other, is Daniel Burnham, an incredible architect tasked with setting up the city for it's hosting of The World's Fair. Much of what he did still makes up Chicago.
There's been a lot of people connected to making this a film. I know David Fincher was batted around with it, especially after The Zodiac. And there's been several people tied to playing Holmes, including Matt Damon, Guy Pearce, and Jude Law. All of them would be interesting (although I don't think Damon could do it).
It's going to be a tricky movie to do unless they just cut the Burnham story out all together, and frankly it's at least as interesting as the Holmes' section of the book. I was afraid it would be cut completely, but Scorcese I trust, in spite of people's opinions, and hopefully he stays somewhat true to the source material.

Why make another movie about a depraved shitbag with an unlikable fatneck actor playing him? Do people really enjoy seeing this formula again?
If they're going to do this event in history why not make a movie about Tesla? Aside from being an interesting personality (moreso than Howard Hughes :whatever:) it was his brilliant technology and hard work that made the Fair such a spectacle in the first place.
But I guess the Weinsteins would rather have us watching cinematic torture porn with Leo playing a cross between his awful character in Django and the Wall Street movie. :facepalm
Just think if that Aviator budget went towards a Tesla movie with a more exciting actor in the lead role. :banghead:

i hate these pretentious movies they keep making with shitty ass stories highlighting the (over)acting performances more than the content. i swear i know i'm going to be disappointed with the Revenant because the story seems soooo fukkin lame and all people keep crowin about is the cinematography and Leo/hardy performances
i'll probably bite but it annoys the fukk out of me how they keep making movies based on the shittiest story lines :facepalm
reminds me of mayweather stans who have lost sight of the fact they're there to watch 2 mf'ers fight :coleman:
just like movie goers go to watch a good fukkin movie which usually entails a good story.
its laffable how some people judge movies these days especially 3/4's ofr them pretentious ass critics completely out of touch with what their job is based on. you're supposed to be advising the masses bitches, not your snobby self entitled opinion :facepalm

Definitely agree with this. The man tries so hard, it's uncomfortable to watch sometimes. :lol
His best work came when he was a kid. What's Eating Gilbert Grape and the Basketball diaries. Honorable mention to This Boy's Life. :applause:
At least he's toned down that stupid intense squint thing he was doing for a while.

reading some of these wikipedias is pretty disturbing, Fish, Holmes, etc... I'm glad serial killers are a thing of the past now that we're in the 21st century..
also, wtf @ this:
Albert Fish's father was 43 years older than his mother and 75 years old at the time of his birth

What do you mean with squinting?
And what mini period of learning exactly are we talking about?
He was oscar nominated with his 3rd ever movie, same year he did Gangs of NY he was also in Catch me if you can and great.. then robbed of the Oscar in Aviator.

Why exactly is it the past? It's just a lot easier to get caught now. I personally find it fascinating how this mans mind worked...that he actually built his own "death castle" and went this far into his deprivation deserves merit. There are waste of space like Kenneth and stalker who can't even get a ****ing job and this man built his own castle to murder people...that takes dedication and work ethic. The fact that he was out of his damn mind is moot. Who are we to question his cause? The human mind is a very fragile thing.
